My cat has bloody, slimy poop after dewormer shot. Is it normal?

I am sorry to hear about your kitty! With blood present I think it is time for a vet exam (and bring a stool sample along). We can have intestinal parasites that are not treated by dewormer (such as Coccidia and Giardia). We can also have things like colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, or food allergy cause these issues. The vet can examine your kitty and based on the exam and history make recommendations and possible test and treatment options.

This can be a normal response to the deworming pill. I recommend giving a bland diet for a couple days such as boiled chicken, scrambled eggs, or low fat cottage cheese. If it continues after a couple days, or he stops eating/drinking, Meow should be seen by a veterinarian in the case he needs medical treatment/care.

A small amount of blood can be expected not as a result of the deworming per se but more as an effect of the worms that are likely there. If if it just a small amount of possibly blood in the stools, I would continue to monitor him for now. If no improvement is noted within a few days, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Poor girl. It sounds like she may have a bout of colitis (inflamed colon) which is common following a tapeworm infection. You can try treating her with probiotics, Culturelle over the counter, to see if this clears things up. You can also try adding in 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) in her food daily to add fiber and help bulk up her stools. I would also recommend feeding her a bland diet of boiled plain chicken or tuna and white rice for about 7 days, and then slowly transitioning her back to her normal diet. If her diarrhea and straining does not improve within 3-4 days, then its best to take her to your vet who can test her stool and make sure there isn't something else going on. If it is just a bad case of colitis, then a short course of antibiotics will likely resolve things. Best wishes with Stockings and I hope she feels better soon. Take care.

It sounds as Layla is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

It could be related to the dying worms. If Greyson is still eating and drinking normally with a good energy level, I would monitor him at home for a day or two. If other symptoms develop, then I would have him examined by a vet.

It depends on how much blood Tiger may be losing and if this is truly from diarrhea being caused by the parasites. If a diagnosis of parasites was established and you are giving the deworming as instructed by a veterinarian then it would be reasonable to see if this was just a one time episode of bloody stool and to have him examined if it continues. However, if a diagnosis has not been established by a veterinarian, I think it would be best to have a veterinarian look at Tiger as this diarrhea and bloody stools may be unrelated to parasites in which case it is not going to improve with the dewormer.
