My cat has a pimple-like bump above her eye. Should I be concerned?

I can't identify the lesion on Pirate but I can say that yes, cats do get things like pimples and little sebaceous cysts. These lesions will often express like a pimple would and are nothing to worry about unless they get inflamed or bother Pirate. Thank you so much for using Pet Coach!

This could be a pustule which is a local bacterial infection or even a small cyst. If it is just one it may go away on its own. But if there are multiple, this one becomes larger or seems painful your cat may need medication from your veterinarian.

Please understand that it's impossible to say what this lesion is with 100% certainty without examining cells from this lesion microscopically. With that said, Tigra's lesion looks as though it could be a cyst. Most cysts are benign lesions. Many rupture and some refill at a later date, but they won't go away completely on their own. It would be best to have Tigra examined by her vet within the next month or so, or sooner if it's changing dramatically or bothering her. Until her appointment, keep a close eye on it for changes, but don't worry about applying any topical medications.

Hello there, Thanks for the good photo. If it is a small minor wound like a pimple or scratch, it should be mostly healed within a week of forming. If its been present for longer than that or is worsening, I would be more concerned that it is the start of an infection or growth that would benefit from being seen by her veterinarian. That could be something like an infected pore or ingrown hair most likely. His tear duct is on the inside of his eye lid so you don't have to worry about that. Less common, that lesion could represent a wound or the beginning of a skin tumor. I recommend to monitor the area closely. Protect it from rubbing and Jeffrey should wear an elizabethan collar if he wants to rub at it. If the lesion is still present in 2 weeks, have him examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps.

That is an odd bump on Moteur. I think a warm compress twice daily is a good idea. It may be something like a minor infection or perhaps a fluid filled cyst. Make sure to protect it from Moteur scratching at it (make him wear an elizabethan collar if you need to). Given that its so close to his eye, I would be hesitant to try to apply any ointment as I fear he would move and end up getting something in the eye. If that lesion starts to swell, look inflamed, ruptures, or is still there in a month, then I think you should have him examined by his veterinarian. Although it does not look like it is connected to his actual eye, monitor that as well for redness, squinting or excessive tearing. I hope this helps and hopefully that goes away quickly! It could be an area swollen from her hitting her chin on something or it could be an infection / pimple (acne).
