My cat has a pimple-like bump on his chest. Should I be concerned?

It is likely a solitary pustule or papule. These can be commonly seen in puppies because their immune system is still developing. If it is just 1 pimple, then I would not be too concerned and would just monitor for now. Lesions above the eyes can be the result of scratching due to itchy ears from an infection. Cats can be private and she may scratch while she is alone. That looks like it may be a cutaneous horn-type growth. Sometimes, they can dry up and fall off on their own, however, they can also sometimes be cancerous. With any new bump, it's always best to confirm in person with your vet as it is not always possible to determine what a growth is by looks alone. Your vet can take a sample of the growth to determine the cell type, or safely remove it if it is bothersome or itchy for Tiger. Until you get to Tiger's next vet checkup, keep an eye on the area for any signs of something more serious ongoing such as rapid changes in size, redness, irritation, irregular shape changes, pus, or discharge. These are all signs that the growth should be seen ASAP instead.

Hello there, Thanks for the good photo. If it is a small minor wound like a pimple or scratch, it should be mostly healed within a week of forming. If its been present for longer than that or is worsening, I would be more concerned that it is the start of an infection or growth that would benefit from being seen by her veterinarian. It is possible this may be related to inflammation such as from a flea allergy so i recommend treating with a flea medication such as comfortis as soon as possible. Prescription antiinflammatory medications from your vet may also be required

I can't identify the lesion on Pirate but I can say that yes, cats do get things like pimples and little sebaceous cysts. These lesions will often express like a pimple would and are nothing to worry about unless they get inflamed or bother Pirate. Thank you so much for using Pet Coach!
