Why is my cat peeing very often and has pink urine? Is it serious?

Poor kitty. Cats can have blood in their urine as a result of stress, bladder stones or even an underlying urinary tract infection. As long as he is urinating readily with no excessive straining, vocalization, or lethargy, he shouldn't be in any immediate danger. I would recommend taking him in to your vet within the next day or two to have a urinalysis done so that he can ge properly diagnosed and treated. Until then, continue to monitor him for any of the symptoms that I mentioned above, which would warrant an emergency visit to the vet. Otherwise, a regular vet visit is appropriate. Hello. I am sorry to hear that Smokey isn't feeling well. Vomiting in cats can be due to many reasons including gastric upset, obstructions (something stuck in the gut where it shouldn't be), constipation, pain and stress. Peeing outside the litter box can be due to a medical condition (urinary tract infection, metabolic disease like diabetes, crystals, or interstitial cystitis). Peeing outside the box can also be behavioral if the box isn't cleaned, if there aren't enough litter boxes (# of cats + 1 = # of litter boxes), or if she isn't feeling well and she is trying to tell you. Also, since your cat is unspayed, she is at risk for pyometra (infected uterus). If she is still bright and happy and wanting to play and eat I would try changing the litter, getting another box, and seeing if this behavior goes away. Alternatively you can bring her to a vet and get her urine checked- this is ideal. If she is not bright, not wanting to eat, and the vomiting continues and she continues to not use the litter I would have her seen right away by a veterinarian as there could be something seriously wrong. Also, since she is unspayed, she could be marking, I would recommend getting her spayed once this illness is cleared up. I hope she feels better soon.

Poor guy. He likely has a urinary tract infection or cystitis (inflamed bladder usually due to stress). I would recommend taking him to your vet for a urine test to determine which is present so that he is treated appropriately. As long as he is otherwise acting normal and able to urinate at will, then it isn't considered an emergency at this point. Getting him seen on Monday or the day after should be ok. That can indicate there is a urinary Track infection. he will need to be seen by a vet to get a urine sample checked to see if there are crystals also. Make cats can become obstructed and not urinate at all if it goes untreated and that is an emergency

It does look like the urine is blood tinged. It may be that she has some crystals in her urine, bladder stones, or a urinary tract infection, though these conditions often result in symptoms of frequent urination, pain while urinating ( sometimes yowling in the box, or seeming to be in and out of the box, or urinating inappropriately outside of the box). Another possibility would be a toxin exposure; acetaminophen is extremely toxic to cats and causes the urine to appear bloody. Since she isn't acting ill at all, this seems unlikely; however, I would advise that you ensure there hasn't been a possible exposure. If she's eating, drinking, acting ok, not lethargic, no vomiting, diarrhea, change in breathing, etc, its not an emergency (UNLESS SHE'S GOTTEN TYLENOL), but take her in to your vet at your first convenience. Unfortunately there really isn't anything to be done at home without knowing what the cause is. Ensuring she is drinking plenty of water by keeping multiple water sources available throughout the house, and feeding canned/wet food are both good ideas for urinary health, regardless of the cause of the issue. It likely is not an emergency unless she is extremely painful or having difficulty urinating. That said, the sooner Zoey is examined and diagnosed, the sooner she can receive treatment and begin feeling better. The veterinary ER should be able to collect a urine sample to confirm UTI and dispense antibiotics and pain management (if indicated). Abdominal x-rays should be done to rule out bladder or kidney stones or masses. Bloodwork should be done to assess major organ function as well.

Poor Bear! He definitely needs to see a veterinarian right away as this can be a sign of serious bladder issues like cystitis, lower urinary tract disease, bladder stones, or urinary blockage. A urinary blockage is a life threatening emergency so Bear needs to see a veterinarian immediately for treatment. A veterinarian can examine Bear to see if he has a blockage and if necessary pass a urinary catheter and give Bear fluids.
