My cat is peeing blood and acting strange. Does he need a vet?

Given that Minx is a young male cat and having abnormal urinations and likely blood in his urine, I suspect that he may be suffering from Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), or inflammation in the lower urinary tract. This is causing him difficulty urinating, and painful urination. I recommend having him seen by a veterinarian right away, before he becomes fully "blocked", meaning unable to pass any urine at all. This is a life-threatening emergency, and requires rapid veterinary attention. Your veterinarian will perform a physical exam and likely recommend bloodwork to evaluate the severity of his urinary tract disease. FIC is a treatable condition, but again, if he becomes unable to pass any urine at all, he can experience acute kidney failure and develop fatal heart rhythms. I hope this is helpful!

Poor Panbeh! It sounds like he has a bad urinary tract infection. This is very painful-like peeing razor blades. He could also have bladder stones or a urethral blockage. I recommend getting him to a vet ASAP to check his urine and get a radiograph of his bladder for stones. They can then start him on antibiotics and pain medications. Good luck and kisses to Panbeh!

Poor guy. He likely has a urinary tract infection or cystitis (inflamed bladder usually due to stress). I would recommend taking him to your vet for a urine test to determine which is present so that he is treated appropriately. As long as he is otherwise acting normal and able to urinate at will, then it isn't considered an emergency at this point. Getting him seen on Monday or the day after should be ok. It is likely he will be prescribed antibiotics and/or a prescription diet to treat this successfully. I hope that Milo gets better soon. Best wishes and take care.

I would be very suspicious that he had a urinary blockage, was able to pass the obstructing material and that's when he got all wet and litter covered and may have passed blood. It would be the best plan if action to take him to your veterinarian for an exam and a urinalysis. Explain exactly what is going on. He may have an infection, crystalsi in his urine or bladder stones. If he was obstructed, he could do it again very soon and this can be a life threatening emergency.

It is usually related to bacterial infection of the bladder but it may be due to bladder crystals or stress. Please, take her to your local vets for an appointment, as most likely she will need a course of antibiotics to get better.

The only thing you can do is bring Billie Jo to a veterinarian as soon as possible. I would recommend seeing if you can find another veterinarian open but if that is your only option then once they are open go in. Poor kitty. Cats can have blood in their urine as a result of stress, bladder stones or even an underlying urinary tract infection. As long as he is urinating readily with no excessive straining, vocalization, or lethargy, he shouldn't be in any immediate danger. I would recommend taking him in to your vet within the next day or two to have a urinalysis done so that he can ge properly diagnosed and treated. Until then, continue to monitor him for any of the symptoms that I mentioned above, which would warrant an emergency visit to the vet. Otherwise, a regular vet visit is appropriate.
