My cat's urine is pink. What are the causes and home remedies?

Hi, my Scottish fold 3 year-old female indoor cat Irelia (spayed) shows some pink color in her urine recently. Sometimes it is normal color, sometimes it shows pink. She seems to eat well and drink enough water. She is still active as usual. I am wondering what may be a potential cause this and is there anything we can do at home besides visiting a vet? Thank you so much!

If she's eating, drinking, acting ok, not lethargic, no vomiting, diarrhea, change in breathing, etc, its not an emergency (UNLESS SHE'S GOTTEN TYLENOL), but take her in to your vet at your first convenience. Unfortunately there really isn't anything to be done at home without knowing what the cause is.
Ensuring she is drinking plenty of water by keeping multiple water sources available throughout the house, and feeding canned/wet food are both good ideas for urinary health, regardless of the cause of the issue.

PInk urine is usually a sign of a small amount of blood in the urine. Bloody urine, or hematuria, can be a sign of a few different underlying conditions such as a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, or an inflammatory condition. The best way to determine the definitive cause of her hematuria would be to have her seen by a veterinarian. At that time they can also perform a urinalysis to look for evidence of infection. They may also recommend x-rays of her abdomen if they are suspicious of bladder stones. Depending on their findings they can discuss the recommended treatment, which may include antibiotics and pain medication.
If the underlying cause of Irelia's symptoms is a urinary tract infection, cranberry products can be used as a way to prevent the development of further infections. However, cranberry does not treat a current infection.

Red color in the urine usually indicates traces of blood , at this age it would be likely to be caused by a severe urinary infection, you should take Carmel to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated.

I would recommend that you have Misty seen by a veterinarian. It is possible that the off-colored urine the one time was caused by dehydration, but there is never an ok cause for having blood in the urine, especially since she is an old cat. Possible causes for discoloration in urine include UTI, urinary bladder stones, feline interstitial cystitis, cancer, or other systemic disease like kidney or liver disease.
Discomfort during a bowel movement can indicated constipation, painful bladder (as noted above), or arthritis. These things could be easily diagnosed and treated by a vet.1Pet Parents found this answer helpful

Urine should be clear without any debris in it and should not be cloudy. The color looks normal too, as far as is possible to say from a photo. However you should take a fresh sample to your vet for a urinalysis to make sure he does not have a cystitis.
