Is oral Moxidectin safe for recurring bunny mange? What's the dose?

It should be repeated monthly for 2-3 applications. All rabbits in the house need to be treated even if no evident lesions. Cats can also possible transmit this. Also, don't forget to have her spayed as intact female rabbits could have a rate of uterine cancer up to 50% by three year of age. Good luck.

Ivermectin is the appropriate treatment for mites but could there also be a secondary bacterial infection? Good luck.

I have to admit that i have never needed to give pain killers to a rabbit suffering from mange, even in very severe cases but if you think she is in pain take her back to your vet and ask them to prescribe Metacam which is the only safe option for rabbits. give it some time, the treatment takes 3-4 weeks for the condition to clear up, Revolution is not always effective but Ivermectin is and will resolve the condition 100%

Sulfur dips are a fairly good treatment for fungal infections but care must be made around the face. Moist dermatitis around the face from drooling is more likely a staphylococcus or pseudomonas infection, but curing the drooling should correct the skin problems. A veterinarian needs to inspect the cheek teeth for points. Try to dry the lesion and prevent getting wet. A diagnosis should be confirmed prior to treating with anti-fungals as they can cause severe gastrointestinal upset if ingested. Good luck.

Jolina appears to have mange mites. This needs special medication to clear up. Either Ivermectin OR selamectin. You will have to get these medications from your vet as they must be dosed very accurately to avoid potential side effects or a deadly overdose. Mites are very easy to treat if you have correct medication but it can take months to completely resolve.

Hello again. I am glad that you got her tested and got to the bottom of her skin problems. The veterinarian will have to give you specifics on how to give this medication because by law we are not allowed to give out the very complex dosage regimen for ivermectin without having first physically examined Pushinka. We are bound to the rules of the veterinary client patient relationship act, which prohibits this or we fear disciplinary action and even a loss of our license. If you ask your vet they will likely give you the dosages that she needs based on her weight. She will need to be on this for roughly 4-6 weeks. She needs to have 2 negative skin scrapes before being taken off the medication and skin scrapes should be done every 3 weeks. I would also continue the shampoo we discussed to also control the secondary bacterial infections that are occurring on her skin.
