Why isn't my cat eating during or after her heat cycle? Is she sick?

Oh no, poor Shadow! She could be having a pyometra (infected uterus) event or another internal illness. None of these symptoms are normal for a cat in heat or just coming out or heat. And any cat that doesn't eat for more than a day should be examined by a vet because cats are masters at hiding diseaseand illness until they are really really sick. I would recommend taking Shadow in to be seen, examined and blood analysis ran to hopefully determine the underlying issue so that we know how best to treat her. Hopefully it is something your vet can deal with quickly so that we can get her feeling well again soon!

Poor Nina! You may talk to your veterinarian about starting her on a probiotic or perhaps an anti-vomiting drug called Cerenia. Unless Nina is a breeding cat, you may also consider having her spayed so that she no longer has heat cycles or the illness associated with them. Yes, indeed a cat that is not spayed and has to spend a lot of energy by going through heat will lose weight. If you do not intend to breed her, you should have her spayed, especially since cats will stay in heat until they get bred. She will be happier when she does not have to go through constant heat.

It's not because she misses he mom and it is probably not because she is in heat either, it's more likely to be a medical issue, most likely a gastrointestinal disease. you need to take her to the vet ASAP in order to get it treated.

It is not typical for a cat to develop diarrhea after going into heat. Diarrhea could be related to intestinal parasites, some infectious diseases, or a food sensitivity. If the diarrhea does not seem to resolve in the next day or two, if you are seeing blood or if it is very watery, or if Eevee begins vomiting or her appetite is decreased I'd recommend seeing your vet.
