My cat is throwing up and not eating during her heat. What can I do?

Oh no, poor Shadow! She could be having a pyometra (infected uterus) event or another internal illness. None of these symptoms are normal for a cat in heat or just coming out or heat. And any cat that doesn't eat for more than a day should be examined by a vet because cats are masters at hiding diseaseand illness until they are really really sick. I would recommend taking Shadow in to be seen, examined and blood analysis ran to hopefully determine the underlying issue so that we know how best to treat her. Hopefully it is something your vet can deal with quickly so that we can get her feeling well again soon!

Hello, sorry to hear about Suzy. It may be that her heat is causing the signs you are seeing. Cats in heat will vocalize more often and frequently and this is to be expected. However, the vomiting may or may not be associated with her heat cycle. If she continues to vomit, then you should have Suzy evaluated to make sure she does not have any evidence of dietary indiscretion, ingestion of foreign material or an infection in her uterus. If you want to prevent future heat cycles and the behavioral changes associated with this, then considering spaying her would be an option. Some cats can develop a uterine infection after their heat cycle. it is recommended to take her to the vet in order check for an infection. in most cases it's recommended to spay her if this is indeed the cause. if she isn't eating at all since her cycle started it's very bad, a cat usually starts developing fatty liver if he stops eating for more than 3 days strait.

It's not because she misses he mom and it is probably not because she is in heat either, it's more likely to be a medical issue, most likely a gastrointestinal disease. you need to take her to the vet ASAP in order to get it treated.

I am sorry Daisy has not been feeling well for a year. I can say being in heat for a year is very abnormal. it is possible she has an abnormal ovary or uterus which is putting out hormones that are causing her to have these clinical signs. Also, if she is not gaining weight and vomiting she could have irritable bowl disease, intestinal disease, infection, virus or even a pancreas problem. Daisy really needs to see a vet and start a work up. Usually blood work and fecal exam would be the first steps. However if those test are normal she might need more specific diagnostic testing. If this medication was prescribed by your veterinarian and your cat is still vomiting despite the medication then I would seek veterinary care immediately. If the medication was NOT prescribed by your veterinarian then please do not give any more, and take your cat in for evaluation. You do not mention how old the kitty is-any number of issues could be going on. A foreign body obstruction in the intestinal tract, a gastrointestinal infection, dietary indiscretion, a cancerous process, even renal failure can cause the symptoms you have noted. Your cat needs a thorough physical exam and your vet May recommend some diagnostics such as xrays and bloodwork. I hope your kitty feels better soon.

Poor Pearl. She doesn't need a vaccination, because these are only meant to be given to healthy pets and at the current moment she isn't considered to be healthy. If she is still vomiting and not eating she likely has an internal illness that needs to be investigated via bloodwork analysis and a urinalysis and treated for directly. Cats can get a condition called hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver) if they go without eating for several days which can make them extremely ill, so I would recommend getting Pearl seen by your local vet right away. Until you can get Pearl in to the vet you can try to offer her small amounts of slightly warmed cans of baby food to provide some nutritional support. I hope your fur baby feels better soon.
