My cat has a new black spot on her paw. Should I be worried?

It could also be a focal inflammatory reaction if she stepped on a sharp object. I would monitor it for now, and if you notice any changes to the bump or if it begins to irritate Zoe I would have it evaluated by her veterinarian. It is very rare to see malignant types of masses/growths in young kittens, so I would not suspect this is the case.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! From the pictures Mills’s paw looks normal and the black area looks like pigment changes which is not abnormal. If you are concerned, a vet can biopsy the area to confirm but you can just continue to monitor at this time. Good luck and kisses to Milli!

If it is not associated with itchiness or discomfort, there is no need to be concerned about this. Hello. Cats can develop pigmentary spots similar to freckles in people. The spot do show up more often on the lips & the pink skin around the eyes. If you could post a very clear picture, I might be able to be a little more accurate, otherwise, just point the spot out to your vet at Tiffany's next visit. It could be a bacterial or fungal infection around the nail, nail bed or paw pad. A close physical exam would be needed for a definitive diagnosis. See your veterinarian in the morning. If Cosmo is licking or chewing, place an e-collar (cone) on him until he sees the doctor.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Is it where the dewclaw would be? If yes then I think it is a scar form when the breeder had the front dewclaws removed when he was a few days old. If it is a new spot that wasn't there before it could be an abrasion or an area of skin infection. I wish you the best!
