Why is my cat so needy and constantly meowing for attention?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 10 months and 21 days old | 0 lbs

Hello. I have a brithish shorthair, house cat. He's very well looked after and is given more than enough attention but now seems to be attention seeking all the time constraint meowing and as soon as you show him attention or pet him, he will give a purr. How can I stop him from being so needy? I cant see/sense anything to show he's not well or in pain so I'm pretty stuck what to do. He is being very annoying. Thanks

I would first recommend taking Marley to the vet make sure he is healthy. Some cats will become more affectionate when they are sick or not feel well. Second I would recommend increasing toy and activity in the house. He could be getting bored so he is trying to play/interact with you more. They do make toys that can hide treats in them. You can try and hid toys around the house so he has to go find them. Increasing his activity will really help in this situation
