How do I stop my healthy, neutered cat from screaming all day?

Unfortunately it's impossible to know why Adik is meowing so much! If the cats are not spayed and neutered, he is more likely to reactive if the female is coming into heat or if there are other un-neutered males outside. If they are not spayed and neutered, I recommend to have this done. This may help to decrease reactivity but it may now fully control it. Other things you can do are related to environmental enrichment. It’s hard to say why Nao is yowling. Some cats are naturally more vocal than others and it may be his temperament. When he exhibits this behavior, definitely look for any obvious stimulus such as seeing a cat or a bird outside. Listen as well for anything that might be triggering the behavior. Otherwise things that you can do that may help to keep him more calm include setting aside 30 minutes every day for vigorous play. Make sure he has high places that he can climb to as this will satisfy his natural instincts. A tall cat tree or shelves are excellent options. You can also use a pheromone diffuser such as feliway. Lastly there is a diet made by Royal Canin called Calm. It affects the serotonin levels in the brain and many cats responded well to this diet. I think you are saying that Toby is neutered. That is good because male cats can vocalize when they are trying to mark their territory. I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian for a good exam. It is important to rule out medical reasons for his vocalization like constipation, trouble urinating, pain, infection or oral disease. If he appears in good health I would be concerned about behavioral issues. Even though he is neutered he can still try to make or claim territory. You can try felioway around the areas. This is a cat pheromone that can help with stress.

I would recommend starting by using Feliway products to help calm him. There is a Feliway spray and diffuser that I would recommend using. This product contains a pheromone that helps make cats feel more secure and they typically do calm down. If he hears other cats outside this may make him more prone to meowing incessantly. Interactive toys may help as well. There are automatic laser toys that shine a laser on the ground and this keeps some cats busy for hours. Is he a young cat? If so he may be looking for something to do such as hunting. If he is an older cat then I would be worried about possible hyperthyroidism or diabetes. You may want to consider different toys or tall cat trees that allow him to watch birds out of the window. Hi there. If he isn't neutered, this may be a big part of the problem - unneutered males are highly motivated to go out and search for females, so they are often restless and vocal in the house. They also tend to spray (urine mark) around the house, and their urine is extremely smelly. Because of this, I would recommend getting Kovu neutered to see if this resolves the problem.
