My cat has a neck wound. Why is he in pain and refusing to eat?

My cat has a wound on his neck,first I tought I saw tick there and sprayed it for ticks,but now there's nothing,I don't know if it's fallen or the wound is from something else,it looks small,but he shows really hard pain when it's touched,and usually he tolerates much bigger wounds,also since that wound appeared he has throat aches,painful swallowing and lost his appetite,is it possible these symptoms to be related with the wound or it's different problem,my vet's not in the town and no vet near

Poor Tikvichko! Yes, it is possible that his symptoms are related to the wound as it could be infected. Infected wounds would cause him pain and a loss of appetite. I would find the nearest vet for him to take him to so that he can be treated. I hope this helps!

Puncture or bite wounds can get infected rather quickly and result in a fever which may be why he is not eating. They can form abscesses that require local treatment and antibiotics. The veterinarian will examine him and look for any wounds. If there are none, laboratory work may be discussed. He may also be given fluids if he is dehydrated and pain medications to help him feel better. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to cats. That looks like a pretty bad wound that needs to be seen by your vet. Wounds on cats can easily get abscessed (infected) and if Nani is also weak and not eating I would be concerned he is very ill or in a lot of pain. Your vet can clip and clean the area, stitch up or drain any wounds/swelling, and provide you with pain medications and antibiotics to help with recovery.

How to help a stray cat with a worsening, smelly neck wound?

Poor kitty! It sounds like he has a badly infected wound. The smelly discharge is a sign of a severe bacterial infection, so I'm afraid that he really needs antibiotics to treat the problem. You could try and catch him to take him to the vet if you want to, or call your local animal control officer to see if they could trap him and make sure that he gets the care he needs.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! These look like lacerations that are fairly large and deep. This is probably traumatic in nature. Even though a close examination is usually needed for confirmation, I would highly suspect that these will require sutures to be able to close them. I highly recommend that you have Clyde evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would also likely start on antibiotics to prevent the onset of an infection or treat one if already present. Good luck and have a great day!

My cat's neck wound is spreading and leaking water. What to do?

This sounds like a very serious injury and I would strongly recommend that he be seen by a veterinarian immediately. If he is drinking and the water is coming out of the wound, this will very likely require surgery, along with antibiotics and pain medications.
