My cat has a swollen neck bite and is very sick. What can I do?

It sounds like Kitu may have a bite wouldn’t abscess. These usually need to be drained and given antibiotics to resolve. In the meantime you may consider applying a warm water and Epsom salt compress to the site. This may help with discomfort and also may encourage drainage. This sounds like a very serious injury and I would strongly recommend that he be seen by a veterinarian immediately. If he is drinking and the water is coming out of the wound, this will very likely require surgery, along with antibiotics and pain medications.

I am sorry to hear about Clover. It definitely sounds like he needs to go to the veterinarian for this issue, especially since the swelling is worsening. We would worry about things like abscesses due to a wound, infected/abscessed tooth roots, and more. The loss of appetite is usually due to a fever from the infection. The other possibility would be a fracture in the tail. Either way, he needs to see a vet for treatment. As long as the skin is intact and the area is not painful to touch and is not getting more swollen, you should monitor Wonky at home. I suspect the missing fur could be self-inflicted from scratching or it is an abrasion from trauma. In this case, Wonky will just need some time for the fur to grow back. However, if the neck becomes painful, swollen, hot to touch you should take Wonky to your local vets for an appointment as the symptoms would suggest trauma to the deeper structures of the neck or a growing abscess.

Judging from the picture, this could be a ruptured abscess or secondary to self trauma from him scratching at the area. I would recommend having him examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment recommendations can be made. He will need the hair clipped from around the wound and the wound cleaned.
