My cat's soft claw glue dried. Can I use super glue for nail caps?

I'm glad to hear that the nail caps work well for your cat's front feet! Most cats are far more tolerant of having their front feet handled than their back feet. Since Your cat is unable to retract his toe, I do think it's worth trying to remove the glue. Walking in with his toe in an abnormal position could cause him to inadvertently injure himself. Most of these caps use some form of a super glue for attachment. If your cat will tolerate it without causing you any bodily harm, try to soak the affected area in either vegetable oil or mineral oil for a few minutes, then try to gently scrape away at the glue closest to his nail base. It's not a big deal if some of the glue remains on his nails - it will wear off eventually. You may want to try wrapping your cat's body tightly in a large towel with the foot in question left out of the wrapping. We all this a "kitty burrito" and it's often helpful for a bit of restraint. Your husband is correct to an extent, sometimes we do use glue on wounds, but it is specially made surgical glue. You could not gaurantee the safety of superglue, and a bird is not a particularly heavy animal so they are more at risk to toxicity. In the vets we use a powder called potassium permanganate to stop bleeding. But to be honest if you are careful when clipping the claws there should be no bleeding.

Absolutely! It is easy to clip a cat's nails at home as long as she is relatively cooperative. You can squeeze the tip of each toenail to extrude the claw and identify the pink quick. Clip the claw avoiding the quick. If you're unsure or your cat is frisky most grooming facilities and some veterinarians will trim nails and can probably demonstrate the proper technique.

I would not recommend using superglue on a laceration. Although tissue glue is similar and sometimes used to close small wounds it would not be ideal for a high pressure/high motion area like the paw. If it is not bleeding and seems superficial it might heal without specific treatment: watch for redness, swelling or discharge as symptoms of infection. Hi and thanks for your request. The area can be clean to remove the dried blood with some salt water solution and then the new nail can be left growing by itself. Licking should be discouraged by applying a buster collar. The new nail should not have particular problems growing and eventually will displace the old one. From the pic I can see where you cut it, and it seems fine.
