My cat won't eat due to painful mouth sores. Is there a numbing agent?

Stomatitis is a frustrating condition and the best remedy we have is often a full mouth teeth extraction. Antibiotics and steroids can be effective in some cases, but lysine has not shown to be effective. Either way, it sounds like poor Mr. Kitty is in need of pain control and further treatment, so it's best to take him for a recheck exam by your vet, so they can prescribe the necessary medication. Unfortunately without prescription it is going to be difficult to obtain any antibiotic and we are not allowed to make any prescription through this platform. Unfortunately ulcerated tumours are incredibly painful and analgesia will do little to help. If it cant be removed and cant heal you have limited options. Personally I would consider quality of life carefully and consider euthanasia. Othet management options would be to try orobase cream which makes a protective film over the open area and alleviates pain, but the cat would have to be amenable to you applying it. You could consider having an oesophageal feed tube placed so you can bypass the mouth completely whilst it heals. These tubes are usually temporary but there are linger term versions that allow you to put feed into the stomach directly. Consider carefully though as quality of life should be the overall deciding factor.

This could be something else such as a mass which is why it has not resolved or perhaps an abscess that is not sensitive to the antibiotics that were used. Before you start any medications Snaggles needs to have an exam by a Vet. He could have severe stomatitis or another tooth that needs to be extracted. Antibiotics and pain medications are temporary band-aids for both conditions. Without examining Snaggles, it is against the law for us to prescribe medications. We need a valid Veterinary Client Patient Relationship that requires us to be able to physically touch your pet. Since Snaggles was just seen by your Vet in June I would try calling them and asking if those medications are appropriate for him. Ouch, that must be very painful to Frankee and the kitten. There are a couple of reasons why they may have both developed these ulcers, and they include nutritional (protein - calorie malnutrition, riboflavin deficiency), infection (FeLV, FIV, calicivirus, herpes virus), toxins, foreign body, or electric cord shock. I would take them both into the vet first thing in the morning for an exam, as it's concerning that they are both showing the same symptoms. It will also be painful for them to eat, and cats should not go long without eating or they end up at risk of developing a fatty liver. The vet can do a physical exam, blood tests, a urinalysis, and any other tests they deem necessary. Once a cause is found, the vet can discuss treatment with you. I would offer them both gently warmed wet food tonight to tempt them to eat.

The location is a little abnormal for a rodent ulcer, so I would probably recommend more dermatology diagnostics (especially in an 11 year old cat if she hasn't had problems with this before).
