Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Female | spayed | 35 lbs

Well my cat has pearladontal disease and an abscess on her tongue and we got tablet treatment and got her teeth cleaned and she would not take the tablets and wouldn’t eat and it would pain her to even drink water so we took her to the vet and we got an injection for her abscess which lasts two weeks and a week course of pain relief which we pour into her mouth with a syringe but it’s been two weeks and every time we give her the pain relief she try’s to eat but end up bleeding bad from it

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! At this point this would warrant reevaluation. This could be something else such as a mass which is why it has not resolved or perhaps an abscess that is not sensitive to the antibiotics that were used. Your veterinarian can reevaluate this and treat according to that. Good luck and have a great day!
