Is my cat mourning his brother? He won't stop meowing. How to help?

Our pets experience grief and loss, and just like people, it takes them a variable amount of time to deal with that loss. If Brostom was very close with the other cat, he might benefit from having another cat in the home to keep him company. If you decide to pursue this, I recommend a slow introduction and keeping the new cat in a separate room for a few days where they can smell each other under the door. If this increases Brostom's agitation, then it might not work, but I think it would be worth trying. I hope this helps.

He is likely missing his buddy. If he saw his dead friend when he was dead, he would normally truck on and not be upset for long. Give it time, give him lots of loving, eventually his grief will stop. Play with both of them at the same time, it may help.

If Milla started meowing when you put your other cat down I would recommend making sure you spend as much time as possible with her. I would find toys that she really enjoys and play with her. Make sure she has a place she can sit on and look out a window and places to hide in. If non of this works then I would bring her to the veterinarian to rule out anything medical. If she has a clean bill of health and you feel that this is affecting her day to day life then you can discuss medication options with your veterinarian. Poor Fettuccine! He could be more vocal because he misses Jack and it may take some time for him to adjust. You could try a Feliway diffuser or spray and see if that helps. It's possible Ginger is responding due to the changes in the household. To help her cope, keep her on a routine, set aside 30 minutes a day for playtime and give her lots of attention. Monitor her closely for any signs of illness and have her examined if needed. Most cats will get back to normal within a few weeks. I am sorry to hear about your cat passing away. It is very normal for pets in the same household to grieve the loss of a sibling/house mate. What Tommy is going through is completely normal. I would first recommend taking her to be checked out by your vet just to ensure there is no underlying illness that is causing her change in behavior. If she receives a clean bill of health then you can assume her behavior is due to the loss of her sister. It is hard to say whether or not getting another cat would help. She may love the company of another female or she may feel stressed at having a new housemate. In the meantime, while you are deciding on whether or not to add another cat to your home, try spending some extra time and giving extra attention to Tommy, this may be all she needs. She may be grieving but at her age I would worry there is an imbalance with her thyroid gland. A cat gland can become hyperactive and when the levels rise, they will eat and lose weight and meow at night and roam randomly. Your vet can check the level with a blood test to be sure
