My cat miscarried. Now has fever, discharge. Which antibiotic is safe?

First, it is important for Tigger to finish the full course of his medication for it to work properly. Secondly, a fever is a serious sign.in a cat. It is important to determine why she has a fever so that an appropriate medication can be prescribed to her. Yes, she could have an infection somewhere, but there are numerous other causes of a fever in a cat. She could have an immune mediated disease, heat stroke, stress or even cancer. She will need to see a veterinarian to determine if treatment is needed and if so, the best action. I hope this information helps!

He should be examined by a vet before giving any medication, especially if he is not eating. He may have an infection but a vet should look at him first to decide if Amoxicillin is the best antibiotic to use. He may also need some fluids to prevent dehydration. Please call your vet and have him examined. Your vet can check a urine sample to look for an infection or other diseases that can cause blood in the urine. Hope he feels better soon!

The clavaseptin will be fine as it does has a wide dose range. However, the prazosin is not an antibiotic it is a medication used in high blood pressure etc. I assume your cat has some sort if urinary issue or high blood pressure if it is on this medication? Thankfully the dose range for prazosin is 0.25mg to 1mg per cat every 8 to 12 hours so even though you gave a double dose 2 half tablets is still within range. I would go ahead and give your tablets this evening as long as the cat has seemed okay today. Try and stick to the schedule as best you can. If you are worried that your cat is sleepy/dizzy I would take him to the vet as soon as you can.

Hello there, Many medications are only labelled for dogs because it saves the pharmaceutical company money. Amoxicillin and amoxicillin-clavulanic acid have both been commonly and safely used in cats for decades. This is a normal first line treatment and accurate dose for a mild skin inflammation or infection. If the incision area becomes red, swells rapidly, or begins to drain excessive fluid, or she begins to act differently- such as lethargic or uninterested in food, that would warrant a recheck with your veterinarian. At this time, her incision does not appear red and the scabbing appears quite dry and non-inflamed, so I am not overly concerned. I hope this helps. I believe it is a safe antibiotic and does a good job for animals with urinary tract infections. I would continue the clavamox as prescribed by your Vet. Hello. Prescribing an antibiotic is a delicate balance between knowing what a pet has & how they will tolerate it. Gentamicin is a powerful antibiotic, but must be used with caution in dehydrated animals, & it is quite easy for a sick cat to become dehydrated. If your cat is in-hospital, then this is being monitored. If not, this is not my first choice of antibiotics to fight infection in a cat, BUT I also have no idea what your cat may have. If you are concerned, you should definitely discuss this with your vet, or perhaps seek a second opinion from some one else who can actually examine Guddu. Hi, amoxicillin can be used in kittens but how do you give it ? I have witnessed some owners doing more harm then good by administering oral medications to kittens. I would recommend to see your vet so they can be started with a more effective, safe and fast acting injection and then you can continue at home with some oral drops for example. The dosage in kittens would be 10 mg per pound for 5-7 days. Hope this helps,
