My cat has a painful loose tooth and won't eat. Cost to remove?

So sorry that your cat is having this problem. You could take him to a veterinary dental specialist and see if the specialist will remove his tooth. Or find another vet in your area and take him for a second opinion. If his blood work is normal and he is in otherwise good health, then the risk of extracting a bad tooth is low. Even though her teeth looked great two months ago, most dental disease occurs underneath the gum line. Therefore, the gums and teeth may have looked great but there may have been the beginning of disease under the gum line. I recommend taking Aevie to your veterinarian to get another assessment and likely discuss a dental cleaning with dental radiographs and extractions of that canine too plus any additional teeth that need to be extracted. As long as she is eating and drinking without discomfort, I think waiting is fine. Your veterinarian will evaluate all of her remaining teeth and advise you on any extractions that will be needed at the time of the dental. Yes, Toby should have a dental. He might have other loose teeth in his mouth, it needs to be checked that the entire tooth came out (roots included), and he may have severe gingivitis that requires a cleaning, scaling, and polishing. I would bring him into the vet as soon as possible during normal business hours.

Poor kitties can get so scared when going to the veterinarian. Some veterinarians are More comfortable with cranky cats than others. You may want to call you veterinarian and ask for a sedative to give her before you bring her in. This may be enough to allow the doctor to examine her well. If not, they may need to give her a little more sedation once she is there. I find that it is much less stressful to the kitty, and all involved if you use sedation in these circumstances.
