My cat's molar fell out. When can she get her teeth professionally cleaned?

If she is acting normal (eating, drinking, playing, eliminating normally) I think you are ok to wait until your vet is open. If she won't eat and drink you should find a vet that is open and have her evaluated. Most times these situations are not emergencies unless the owner has a show dog or cat. There is no need to take him in to your veterinarian at this time if the area where he lost the tooth is not hurting. Since you obviously have scheduled a dental cleaning for Milo, your vet can inspect the area during the dental cleaning while he is under sedation. The vet will also do dental radiographs to check for retained roots and neck lesions. These will need to be removed.

Yes, Toby should have a dental. He might have other loose teeth in his mouth, it needs to be checked that the entire tooth came out (roots included), and he may have severe gingivitis that requires a cleaning, scaling, and polishing. I would bring him into the vet as soon as possible during normal business hours.

Even though her teeth looked great two months ago, most dental disease occurs underneath the gum line. Therefore, the gums and teeth may have looked great but there may have been the beginning of disease under the gum line. I recommend taking Aevie to your veterinarian to get another assessment and likely discuss a dental cleaning with dental radiographs and extractions of that canine too plus any additional teeth that need to be extracted. I would definitely recommend leaving it alone because you could cause some pain and injury by wiggling on it. However I would consider having your vet take a look at it because safe extraction if the canine tooth may be recommended to avoid having a huge hole left behind for foodstuffs to then get clogged into. If your vet extracts the tooth instead of just letting it fall out, the vet can then close the hole with suture. This is the best approach when dealing with diseases canine teeth especially, because this is the only tooth that can leave a hole that directly communicates with the nasal passages (oronasal fistula), so we take extra precautions with this tooth in particular. I see you have a snaggletooth kitty! If you mean the little incisor on the right, do nothing, it will fall out by itself. She has already lost a canine tooth, which, in itself is not a problem, however I would have the veterinarian look at her teeth soon. She may have excessive tartar, gingivitis and /or FORL (lesions on the tooth roots) which make the teeth fall out and are painful. Tank may need a teeth cleaning under anesthesia to make sure her mouth is healthy again and not lose more teeth. Gingivitis and tartar can also lead to detrimental bacteria entering the blood stream and causing heart and kidney disease. So dental cleaning is important when there are indications of dental disease.

It is never normal for an adult cat to lose a tooth, and if one tooth fell out then I worry that Milo may have some advanced dental disease that needs to be addressed. Excessive licking can be a sign of pain, and losing a tooth is certainly painful! Your vet will examine Milo's mouth, and then will likely want to schedule a full dental procedure under anesthesia to address any other pathology that might be going on in the mouth. Hope this helps!
