My cat is leaking urine after bladder stone surgery. Is it normal?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 7 months old

My cat just had urine stones removed, he's leaking/dripping urine time to time, still using toilet eating and drinking. He's using painkillers and antibiotics after the surgery witch was 3 days ago. Is that leak something to worry about or is it just a part of recovery? Thank you

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Louis. The leaking of urine should resolve with time and is typically the result of residual inflammation within his urinary tract. It is a good sign that he is eating, drinking and acting normally. However, I recommend contacting his veterinarian tomorrow to alert them of the problem. I hope this information helps!

    Owen had a pretty big surgery, and it will take him some time to come back to normal completely. It's a good sign that he's urinating, eating, and drinking. Continue to keep a close eye on him, and if he doesn't appear to be improving in another 48 hours, have him seen by the vet again. If he starts having trouble urinating, his urine becomes bloody again, or he stops eating or drinking, rush him into an ER vet immediately. Best of luck.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Treama. After bladder surgery, there is a quite a bit of inflammation in the urinary tract and this can cause urine leakage. It should resolve with time, but is worth discussing with her veterinarian. Some middle aged spayed female dogs will leak urine due to a lack of hormones. This is unrelated to bladder stones, but could be a contributing cause in her case. This condition is known as hormone responsive incontinence and can be asked about as well. My cat leaks urine after PU surgery. How long will this problem last?
The good news is he is passing urine well. When he was blocked the bladder got enlarged and now he doesn't have the bladder tone and control to hold the urine inside and urinate under control. This should improve with time. There is also medication that can help so please talk with your veterinarian about trying some medication. Why is my dog leaking urine two weeks after surgery? Is it normal?
It isn't normal for a pet to leak this long post surgery, so there was likely a complication during the surgery. I would inform your vet about the symptoms and see if this can be resolved with medication (i.e. Prazosin) first and go from there. Why is my male cat peeing everywhere after UTI blockage surgery?
He is probably still suffering from an infection/inflammation and he probably received muscle relaxant medications which causes loss of control on the bladder. once the medication course is over and he is healed it will stop, but until then it's actually a good thing that he is peeing everywhere, it means he is not blocked anymore.
