Since an uti blockage surgery, why is my male cat peeing everywhere but the litter box?

He is probably still suffering from an infection/inflammation and he probably received muscle relaxant medications which causes loss of control on the bladder. once the medication course is over and he is healed it will stop, but until then it's actually a good thing that he is peeing everywhere, it means he is not blocked anymore.

As it is a male cat, there is a high chance that he is already partially blocked, and it is an emergency situation potentially. in most cases with cats, these urinary symptoms are not an infection but an inflammation of the bladder, which is treated slightly differently. at this point i wouldn't take the chance, i would advise taking him back to the vet right away.

This is still normal, it can remain this way until the condition is fully resolved and he will retain normal function of the bladder once he recovers. urinary blockage is usually caused by a bladder inflammation, most often due to stress, the stress factor needs to be removed and you need to continue the medical treatment as well as prescription urinary diet for a month.

These signs are compatible with UTI (urinary tract inflammation/infection) so if they persist or no urine is passed at all, another check up is needed as urinary blockage/obstruction could be always a risk.

Cats have weird brains, and often after a traumatic time trying to urinate, they start to think it is the litter box's fault and decide to pee elsewhere. My cat had a blockage. Is a weak urine stream normal post-treatment?

Yes, the infection and the spasms can continue for a few days after this is done. The important part is that he passing urine! But he needs to be monitored closely as he can still block again until the stream is good.

My cat leaks urine after PU surgery. How long will this problem last?

The good news is he is passing urine well. When he was blocked the bladder got enlarged and now he doesn't have the bladder tone and control to hold the urine inside and urinate under control. This should improve with time. There is also medication that can help so please talk with your veterinarian about trying some medication. If Max was doing this behavior behavior before getting neutered, he still may do it afterwards. Neutering can reduce the behavior, even eliminate it, but not in every case. It could also be he has a medical illness such as feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones. Have him seen by a vet for this.

Is it normal for a cat to dribble pee and hide after unblocking?

Yes, this can be normal. Urinary blockage effects a cat's entire system and can make them feel very poorly. When the catheter is removed there is usually a fair bit of inflammation due to the catheter having been in place. The fact that he is producing urine is a good sign. You want to see him continue and start to produce more and more. If he appears to get duller or stop urinating take him back to the vet.

I am sorry to hear about your kitty. It is possible he has a negative association with the litterbox after his blockage. I assume you mean he is urinating outside his box when you say he isn't using it- if he is not urinating at all then he needs to return to the vet right away. I would consider getting several new boxes, the larger the better (a box 1.5 times the length of the cat is recommended, often rubbermaid type sweater boxes are used in these cases). I would recommend getting a Feliway diffuser https://www.feliway.com/us#redirected which can have a calming effect and consider a calming supplement such as Zylkene or Composure, and discuss with your vet whether or not any other medications may be needed, such as pain medication or anti-anxiety medication depending on your cat's history. Why is my cat straining and peeing outside box after PU surgery?

I would recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian. He could have something mild like a urinary tract infection but he can also have stones or crystals in his urine that is causing discomfort. They can check a urine to see if it is an infection or if there are crystals and he may need an X-ray if they are suspecting stones.
