My cat's vaccine booster is 2 weeks late. Is he still protected?

Yes, it should be fine if you need to wait a little bit to give a booster vaccine, especially if your cats have been kept up to date on all of their vaccines prior to this. If you are unsure you can wait, your vet can also perform a titer test to check for antibodies, or can let you know if you are on a one-year or three-year vaccine schedule.

He should be ok for another few months, but I'd keep him indoors at all times to be safe if he is allowed outside. I remember recently I fell almost a year behind in one of my cat's vaccines because I was so busy and forgot, but I was able to vaccinate him with no issue. But he is indoor only, so it wasn't a big deal as he wasn't exposed to any other animals. Get his vaccines when you can. I hope this helps!

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach! If you are unable to get the booster vaccines, then immunity is probably not 100% established. However, I do think that giving at least one vaccine is beneficial and provides some protection. There is still the risk that without boostering, these cats will still be vulnerable to the disease and without receiving future boosters may contract the disease later on. Although it is highly recommended that all vaccinations are completed on time, especially the Rabies vaccine, 3 days overdue should be fine. Hugo should still be protected from the immunity he developed in response to his first vaccine one year ago. I would advise taking extra precautions during these three days and keeping Hugo indoors and away from other dogs, and other animals. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Max is still finishing his kitten vaccines they I would get his next booster. I am assuming you are referring to it being due Jan 12 2018? And it is the FVRCP vaccine. If you do not get his vaccinations he will be a risk for those diseases. You need to decide the risk reward for keeping him up to date. Personally I think you should if you have multiple cats, he goes outdoors, if you ever plan on getting more cats or you plan to breed him. I hope this helps and I wish you and Max the best!

Hello. There is no reason that a cat that previously blocked should not receive vaccinations. At the very least, the rabies vaccine should be kept up to date. For feline distemper/leukemia, as long as Ray has received the kitten series, & 1 booster one year later, then I am OK with boosting this vaccine every 2-3 years.
