My cat missed his last vaccine booster. Can he still get it now?

Since he is six years old an presumably has been kept current on his vaccinations he should have plenty of built-in immunity to tide him over. It is possible to have a titer blood test done to see if he even needs to have a booster, but the drawback to this is that the blood test sometimes costs more than simply doing the vaccinations and it does no harm to give the vaccination.

He should be ok for another few months, but I'd keep him indoors at all times to be safe if he is allowed outside. I remember recently I fell almost a year behind in one of my cat's vaccines because I was so busy and forgot, but I was able to vaccinate him with no issue. But he is indoor only, so it wasn't a big deal as he wasn't exposed to any other animals. Get his vaccines when you can. I hope this helps!

I am assuming you are referring to it being due Jan 12 2018? And it is the FVRCP vaccine. If you do not get his vaccinations he will be a risk for those diseases. You need to decide the risk reward for keeping him up to date. Personally I think you should if you have multiple cats, he goes outdoors, if you ever plan on getting more cats or you plan to breed him. I hope this helps and I wish you and Max the best!

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach! If you are unable to get the booster vaccines, then immunity is probably not 100% established. However, I do think that giving at least one vaccine is beneficial and provides some protection. There is still the risk that without boostering, these cats will still be vulnerable to the disease and without receiving future boosters may contract the disease later on. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is the FVRCP vaccine, which stands for Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calici virus and Panleukopenia. I highly recommend finishing his kitten vaccine series. These viruses can cling to you and you can give them to him or if you ever get another cat he will be at risk. The first 2 viruses are respiratory viruses and the last one is the feline version of parvo and cats die from panleukopenia. I hope this helps and I wish you and Sherlock the best!

The recommended vaccination schedule for kittens is first shots at 8 weeks of age and then two sets of boosters at 12 and 16 weeks of age. You would be surprised how many times an owner has told me the kitten "had all of it's shots already" only to find out it only received one set. If Roky at all three sets of vaccines as stated above, then no, he doesn't need boosters. If the vaccine booster sets were not given at the correct interval (every 3-4 weeks) then he would need a booster. If Roky only received one set of vaccines or two sets, then he would need an additional booster. No offense, but if the vet is recommending the vaccine boosters then it is likely necessary. I would go with what the vet says before going with what the rescue says. It is a small price to pay to make sure he has the proper immunity going forward. Even if he is indoors only you want to make sure he has been properly vaccinated just in case he gets outdoors (this happens a lot). Also, I don't know where you live but in cases of emergencies (like hurricanes) people have to evacuate and the animals are sometimes boarded or kept with other animals that may have never had vaccines. The vaccines are for his protection. At the end of the day, it is up to you whether or not you want to do the boosters. I personally think it is better to be safe than sorry and get him the boosters. What a pretty girl! Yes, Binx can get vaccinated safety and she needs to get vaccinated to protect her against disease. You may also discuss having her spayed to prevent other health conditions. Binx will need two rounds of vaccinations spaced 3 weeks apart. Call you local veterinarian to schedule this. Best of luck.
