My cat jumped from balcony, now less active. Should I see a vet?

Hi there. So sorry that Noogie hurt his leg! Cats rarely just sprain/strain a limb like dogs do. If they are limping usually they are significantly injured. I would recommend taking him in for an exam and x-ray. If you choose to watch him just make sure he stays inside! Make sure he is eating and drinking normally and using the litter box. Whatever you do - DO NOT- give him any over the counter medications like tylenol or aspirin!!! Cats are extremely sensitive to these medications and can die if given them. Oh dear, poor Meow! Since she is not moving, eating or drinking, my main concern is that she has experienced significant trauma in her travels, either from a long fall or being hit by a car. These traumatic events can cause major head trauma, rib fractures, or internal injuries that can be quite severe and painful. At this point, Meow needs to go to an emergency vet immediately for evaluation and treatment. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

You should take your kitty to a vet as soon as possible after the accident for an exam as she could have internal bleeding, a ruptured bladder and also broken bones. The fact that she is hiding and only walking slowly is a sign that she is in pain and got injured in the accident. What we perceive as a gentle bump is quite a hard hit for a cat. Please take Mice to a vet ASAP.

She may have injured herself when she jumped from the balcony. Also is she was bred the male may have bitten and scratched her which could cause an infection. Either of these things could cause her symptoms but regardless it sounds like she needs veterinary care right away. They will examine her and perhaps take an X-ray to check her rear legs and check her for a fever. When they know the exact problem then they will give her the appropriate treatment. I would have Miss Kitty seen by a vet now. Young kittens are very fragile, and and I'm concerned that she took a hard fall and now just wants to be sleep. She needs to be checked out to be safe. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

She could have fractured/broken the leg, dislocated it or even avulsed the brachial plexus (bundle of nerves in the armpit). These are not things you are going to fix at home. I'm sure she is in a lot of pain and getting some pain medication from the vet would be a nice thing to do for her too. Please get her to the vet. It doesn't sound like a simple sprain. You can cold compress it if she will allow you to but that won't take the place of a vet exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Based on the information you have provided, and the attached pictures, I am also very concerned that Sprinkles may have sustained significant trauma, causing her to be non-weightbearing lame on her left hind leg. Whether she was hit by a car or potentially fell and injured her leg, it sounds like she is in a significant amount of pain. She also looks like she has abraded skin (a wound) on that leg as well, which is at risk of becoming infected. I recommend having her seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to have her injuries addressed. He/she will perform a full physical exam to localize her pain and determine if she has other, more life-threatening injuries such as damage to her chest or abdomen. X-rays may be indicated if a fracture is suspected. Ultimately, pain medication and antibiotics can be prescribed to help ease her pain and prevent infection. Importantly, NEVER give pain medication that is intended for humans to your pet, as these can be fatally toxic. I hope this is helpful!
