My cat ingested flea treatment, acting strange with stomach gurgles?

Hello, thank you for your question. I believe that keeping a close eye on your cat and trying to prevent her from licking the product is a good option. Most of these products cause mild GI upset or excessive salivation when they are ingested, but rarely life threatening signs. If your cat develops any vomiting, diarrhea, or inappetance I would recommend having her seen by a veterinarian. Hope this helps, good luck!

This happens particularly often when a cat mange to lick and ingest some of the product. These symptoms are usually mild and go away after 1-2hrs. If your Fennekin was acting like that, I suspect it was reaction to the flea treatment. If she is calm now, you need to monitor her at home for the next few hours. However, if she continues to breath fast or breath with open mouth, please take her to your nearest vets without delay.

It could be he is experiencing an abnormal reaction to the flea medication, but it could also be he has a severe illness like kidney disease, GI illness, liver disease, heart disease, or even cancer causing his symptoms. There are possible reactions associated with any medication or preventative product given to an animal though this would be an unusual reaction to a topical flea preventative like Bravecto. If the skin around at the site it was administered looks normal (not irritated or inflamed) and she is otherwise doing well, I would continue to watch her for now and have her evaluated by your veterinarian tomorrow if no improvement. If she appears to be too different to what she normally is, have her evaluated tonight to ensure she is not having an unusual reaction to the Bravecto. I think she is likely reacting to the application of the product because she can feel something in her skin that she is not used to rather than having a complication. Time will tell with this one. Since she's eating, drinking, and not lethargic, you certainly don't need to seek emergency care tonight. If tomorrow she still seems out of sorts, or continues to vomit, I would recommend scheduling a vet appointment for exam and x-rays of her abdomen. It's not likely to be a symptom of the fleas but it could be a symptom of the flea treatment you use, some of them can cause a side effect of lethargy and lack of appetite which usually does not last more than 24 hours. if by tomorrow Jax is not better, i would recommend taking him to your vet to get checked and treated.

Just keep an eye on her. She would need to eat a lot of the product to get sick. You may want to give some wet food with added water to get the product to pass through more quickly. I would expect some drooling as the only side effect. Do monitor her though and should you see any medical problems such as tremors or vomiting and diarrhea then I would take her in.
