How long should I keep my cat indoors after applying weed killer?

Hello. Most sprays are safe for pets once the spray has dried, or has been watered into the lawn. I would be sure there are no food or water bowls that might have been sprayed. Either toss them or wash in hot soapy water. The same goes for any chew toys out there. But generally, once a spray has dried, or the area has been watered down & allowed to dry, pets can roam freely, again. The only concerns would be if your dog eats a lot of grass, or finds something to chew on that was left out & sprayed, so keep an eye out for this. It depends what spray you used, with most spray it should be fine after 12 hours but some products have longer effect in the environment, i recommend to read the cautions that needs to be taken on the spray label.

Hello. In general, once the spray has dried, it should be safe to let your pet back into the garden. I would, however, try to limit any ingestion of the treated grasses. Hello. Porous versus solid surfaces will vary, but if you do not apply it too heavily, your carpets & furniture should dry within an hour or so, depending on temperture in your home. If you can set up fans, this will speed drying. Then, just use your hand to judge how dry the cloth surfaces are. Once it feels dry to your hand, your kitties can enter the room. Your vet probably told you to keep Oliver inside for a week so that he is not spreading disease to other cats outside. Either that or your vet did not want his immune system stressed with all the potential pathogens that he could encounter outside. Even when they are better after a few days they could still be contagious to other animals. I would wait the entire week before you let him outside like your vet recommended. Hope this helps. As long as the pesticide was completely dried, and you wait the recommended amount of time before entering the house again, your cats should be fine and there should be minimal to no risk of them getting pesticide on their fur :-)
