How long for Adams flea spray to dry on surfaces before cats are safe?

Hello! I bought Adams plus flea and tick spray to fight a flea problem I’m trying to overcome. I was told this product is safe for use on home surfaces if you have cats, so long as it’s allowed to dry before cats come into contact with it, due to pyrethoids and permethrins being potentially toxic to cats. How long would you say this product takes to dry if sprayed on rugs, curtains, cloth furniture, various surfaces, etc?

Hello. Porous versus solid surfaces will vary, but if you do not apply it too heavily, your carpets & furniture should dry within an hour or so, depending on temperture in your home. If you can set up fans, this will speed drying. Then, just use your hand to judge how dry the cloth surfaces are. Once it feels dry to your hand, your kitties can enter the room. Advantage is not toxic to cats, but K9 Advantix is - so if this is what you're using, you want to make sure that the product is fully dry before any close contact (like cuddling, mutual grooming, etc.) between the dog and the cats. I would wait at least 24 hours to be safe.

Hello. This really depends on the product used. Some allow pets out immediately, some require watering in, while others are safe after the product has dried ( if sprayed on ). In most cases, it should be safe to allow your cat out a full 24 hours after a product has been applied, & this may be the safest regardless of which product was used. Topical products can take a few hours to absorb into the skin. If applied more to the fur than skin it may take a bit longer. Ideally I would leash walk them until the area appears dry to look and touch to prevent them from rubbing it off, or getting dirt caked in the application spot.
