Why is my cat bleeding on her bed? Is it injury, heat, or illness?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 6 months and 14 days old

Today i found blood on my cats bed (3 drops) and I don’t know if she hurt herself while playing or she has her period ( and this would be her first time ) so how do i know ?

If she’s coming into heat she will be acting differently. Lots of meowing, rolling around and acting wild. She may try to go out to get bred. If you don’t see that behavior I would check her all over to see if you can find a wound. I’m not overly concerned about this as long as it was only a few drops and it doesn’t continue. Unfortunately this could be related to her heat cycle (hormones), a bladder infection or a behavioral issue. Since she can’t talk and tell you what’s going on, I recommend to have her checked by the veterinarian for a bladder infection. You may also discuss having her spayed which will eliminate that factor as well. If the veterinarian suspect this is behavioral, there are many things you can do to help encourage her to use a litter box. Just post again. Why is my spayed cat leaving blood drops on the bedding? Help!

She needs to be seen by a a vet. That is very red blood drops. It is either coming from the bladder and out her vulva or from the rectum. The only other option would be from an injury on her body somewhere. If she won't let you look I'm sure the vet can examine her. Since this has been going on for 3 days I would consider this pretty serious.

My cat is in heat and has dried blood near her vagina. Is it normal?

Cats do not bleed during their heat cycle which makes me thing the bleeding is unrelated to her being in heat. it could be due to a urinary infection for example, i would recommend taking her to your vet in order to get it checked and treated.

Why is my cat leaving blood spots on my bed with no visible wound?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Waffle. I would have her examined by her veterinarian. She may have a urinary tract infection and be leaking blood tinged urine. She could also have a sore tooth causing her gums to bleed. Skin wounds are more obvious so I suspect that you would have seen one in checking her over. Check her litter box though and see if she has any evidence of blood in the urine clumps or diarrhea or stool that is blood tinged. I hope this information helps!

My female cat is bleeding from her vagina, not pregnant or in heat?

Vaginal bleeding in a non-cycling female is considered abnormal. If your cat is acting fine otherwise and does not appear to be in distress, this may be something that can wait until tomorrow. However, if you feel the vaginal bleeding is excessive (versus just a red discharge) enough to where blood loss is a true consideration, this is not something that should wait until morning. My unspayed cat is bleeding from her vulva after heat. Is this normal?

We do not normally see a bloody discharge in cats with heat cycles like we do in dogs. For this reason I would recommend an exam by your veterinarian. We could have blood coming from the reproductive tract from infection or a tumor, or we could have blood from the urinary tract which could be due to infection, inflammation, bladder stones, bladder tumors. The vet will do an exam and may recommend a urine test and an x-ray or ultrasound of the abdomen to help determine the cause of the blood.
