My cat ate gyro meat. Should I worry about onion and garlic toxicity?

I definitely wouldn't give them anymore of the sausage, and I would monitor them for now. Dehydrated onion is more concentrated that fresh onion, so less of it could cause toxic signs. Toxicity symptoms include lethargy, weakness, ataxia, pale gums, red or discolored urine, vomiting, diarrhea, and excessive drooling. Should you see any of those signs, I would take them both into the vet right away. It can take up to a couple of days for signs to show, so I would monitor them for 72 hours.

I wouldn't worry about this. There's no way there is enough garlic powder in one slice of pepperoni to cause toxicity in an adult cat. As long as she is acting normal, I don't see a need to take her to the vet. I hope that helps and all is well with Mirz.

If she only licked it and didn't eat any I wouldn't be too concerned. Signs to watch out for that she ate some and is now ill include vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, blood in stool or vomit, or painful abdomen. If you do see those symptoms, a vet visit is best.

Hello, I'm sorry to hear that Luna got into the pan with onions. Generally, she would need to eat a few mouthfuls of pure onion to get a toxic amount. A few licks of oil in a pan with onion in it wouldn't cause problems, except maybe some GI distress from excess fat. If she did ingest a toxic amount of onions, it would cause anemia which results in weakness and lethargy. If you are concerned about the amount she ingested, call her veterinarian and schedule an appointment for a physical exam and bloodwork. I hope this helps. It is likely Steve did not ingest a toxic dose. Monitor for lethargy, pale gums, difficulty breathing or exercise intolerance for the next 24-72 hours. You may see some minor stomach upset which, in the absence of other symptoms, can be managed with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. If he develops any of the other symptoms, have him seem by your veterinarian.

If it was only a small amount of garlic and onion powder your cats should be fine. Garlic and onion are toxic to cats but usually the dose that they can get from eating small amount of powder or seasoning is not toxic. I would suggest you to monitor your cats over the next 24-48hrs for signs of lethargy and inappetance. If they develop any worrying signs you should take them to your local vets.

There is no concern for toxicity here. Pepperoni may cause some upset stomach issues but other than that she should be fine. If you do see some upset stomach symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea), then you can try a probiotic (i.e. Culturelle over the counter) and a bland diet of lean ground beef and rice and pumpkin (not the pie filling) for a few days, then slowly transition her back to her normal diet.
