My cats ate sausage with onion. Is dehydrated onion toxic to cats?

It depends on the size of the piece of onion, but this normally would not be enough to cause toxicity, so I wouldn't worry too much. The biggest concern with onion toxicity is that it destroys the red blood cells. This takes a few days to happen though. You may notice vomiting when they first eat the onion, but other signs of toxicity won't be obvious until 2-5 days later. Signs of onion toxicity are a dramatic decrease in activity and pale gums. If you notice this, then it's best to have Tabbi seen by a vet as soon as possible. Otherwise, if she is completely normal after a week, then I would not worry about her having any problems related to the onion. I hope that helps and all is well with Tabbi.

That should not be an issue. It would be more common to see an upset stomach with diarrhea and vomiting after giving that type of meat to a cat. You should watch Lilly for the next 2 to 3 days for any bombing, diarrhea, weakness or belly pain. If she has any of those signs she should be checked out by a veterinarian.

If it was only a small amount of garlic and onion powder your cats should be fine. Garlic and onion are toxic to cats but usually the dose that they can get from eating small amount of powder or seasoning is not toxic. I would suggest you to monitor your cats over the next 24-48hrs for signs of lethargy and inappetance. If they develop any worrying signs you should take them to your local vets.

Hello, I'm sorry to hear that Luna got into the pan with onions. Generally, she would need to eat a few mouthfuls of pure onion to get a toxic amount. A few licks of oil in a pan with onion in it wouldn't cause problems, except maybe some GI distress from excess fat. If she did ingest a toxic amount of onions, it would cause anemia which results in weakness and lethargy. If you are concerned about the amount she ingested, call her veterinarian and schedule an appointment for a physical exam and bloodwork. I hope this helps. He may experience some digestive upset but a one-time consumption shouldn't cause any problems with anemia. If he gets sick, refuses to eat, becomes lethargic, starts vomiting or has diarrhea, get him in to see your vet as soon as possible.

If you gave her just a small amount she should be fine, but don't give it to her anymore, she doesn't need her food moisturized at all unless she has teeth disease (in that case she needs to be on canned food only).

It is unlikely that Pepper will get poisoned by a few licks of broth with a few crushed onion pieces in it. There is no need to take her to an emergency vet. She would have to ingest a lot of onion in order to get anemia from it. Should she get lethargic or get white gums, have your vet give her an exam, but as I said, it is very unlikely that Pepper will get ill.
