My cat licked a chicken bone with garlic. Should I be worried?

I can understand your concern. Typically there isn’t enough raw garlic to be of concern when used in a condiment and especially if a small bite was consumed. Bonnie will likely be fine. If you want to be absolutely sure you can take her in for some bloodwork to check her organs and make sure everything looks good. Otherwise, just monitor her for the next few days for any symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, or lack of appetite and get her seen right away by your vet if she becomes ill. It is not likely that your kitty will get sick from that . If your cat is healthy and strong there is hardly any chance that, even if there were salmonella or campylobacter bacteria on the chicken, he will get diarrhea or otherwise ill. I would not worry.

It is likely that she will be ok as there is likely not enough garlic in the amount she licked to cause serious life threatening side effects. You may see vomiting or diarrhea, but this should resolve after 24-48 hours. If Cuddles becomes lethargic, is vomiting blood, inappetant, etc. then I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction! How lovely of you and your mom to feed strays near your house! Garlic poisoning is quite serious in cats, and signs of it include vomiting, breathing difficulties, diarrhea, and pale gums. Given that your mom washed off the scallops like they did not have any garlic left on them, but you can still keep monitoring them for the signs I mentioned above. I hope this helps!

Hi and thanks for your request. It is unlikely that this minimal amount of garlic can result in side effects and intoxication. FIV positive status should not increase the chances of this intoxication. I would monitor signs such as lethargy, inappetence, fast breathing and pale mucous membranes/palate. If any a check up will be required.

It could be the fish has upset Voight's stomach. If he's otherwise acting normally now, I'd just monitor him. I'd seek medical attention if he starts vomiting again, has a loss of appetite, becomes lethargic, and/or his gums turn pale or white. I hope this helps!
