My cat is shivering, meowing more. Could it be a seizure or sickness?

Shaking or trembling in your cat could indicate pain or discomfort. If the shaking is severe I would be worried about seizure like activity. I would recommend taking KitKat in to see your vet as something serious may be going on. Hopefully your vet can pinpoint the problem, with a physical exam and possibly blood work, and help to stop the shaking.

Unfortunately there's no way to know for sure. Is she showing any other symptoms? Is she still eating, is she moving around normally or does she seem painful, is she vomiting, having diarrhea, or having any coughing or sneezing? Shivering can occur due to being cold, or nauseous, or painful. All of these are possible causes. Make sure she's protected from cold and wind, and if she's not improving and you know she is not cold, take her to your vet for an exam. If you can wake her up and the shaking stops it is not a seizure and is more likely movement associated with REM sleep. If you try to wake her up but she continues to have muscle tremors it could be a seizure or neurologic disorder and you should see your veterinarian. If you do decide to see your veterinarian a video can help them determine what might be going on.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Penguin! His symptoms are strange and possibly indicate pain. My biggest concern would be if he is having trouble urinating. Check his litter box and see if there is urine present. If there is no urine (and that is unusual) or if there are small drips of urine then I would take him to the Vet. If he gets up follow him to see what he does. Check the house for vomit and be sure he is eating. Any excessive grooming of his penis may also indicate a urinary problem. Hi, Sorry to hear about Jack, the episodes you describing with hypersalivation (increased salivation), shaking and urinating on himself which are happening more during the night can be seizures. I would strongly recommend to have him checked by a vet sooner than later as a frequency of few episodes in a few weeks is high and needs to be managed asap. It is always very helpful in diagnosis to have a video of the episode to show the vet so if you can do that in case another episode occurs before the vet appointment. Hope he will feel better soon.

It sounds like Scooby may be having mild seizure events. I would recommend video taping one of the events in question and showing it to your vet to clarify what these are for sure. If they are seizures then the vet will want to run some tests to check for possible causes and then anti-seizure medication will likely be prescribed to hopefully help manage Scooby’s condition.
