My cat ate fish and is making weird sounds. Could a bone be stuck?

Pet's info: Cat | Exotic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 7 years and 5 months old | 14 lbs

My son diced up whitefish in tiny pieces from our local seafood restaurant for both cats last night the size of rice so they could have a treat . Peapumpkin has acted like something is stuck in her throats and I wondered about bones . We ate it too and didn't find any never do but this has never happened the numerous times we have fed them this before . She's making a weird sound in her throws at playing ok seems breathing regular not rapid drinking water just not eating anything since the fish.

Yes, it is possible there is a bone stuck in Peapumkin's throat if she's making weird sounds and not eating. I would have her seen by a vet right away, as if she does have a bone stuck in her throat, it will need to be removed ASAP.

His gums don't look tremendously pale, but the lethargy and discomfort you describe is concerning, and yes, I would take him in. It's hard to say whether the bones could have caused a complete GI blockage, but if he's not defecating at all (or urinating???) then that is a potential concern. Even a serious case of gastroenteritis secondary to eating fish and bones is extremely uncomfortable, and warrants treatment. I would take him in ASAP.

Kitten choked on fishbone, gagging and vomiting. Is it an emergency?

I would be concerned that this bone could still be stuck in her throat, and Lobsti has to see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. It generally requires emergency surgery to remove. A foreign body ingestion does not typically cause sneezing though. She needs a thorough examination and possibly x-rays of her belly. Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I suspect Seuss has a scratch or wound to the throat from eating and vomiting the bones. That will often stop cats from meowing and purring. If his is fine in himself, you should just monitor him for a few days at home. He should be back to normal after the weekend, but if you notice signs of gagging, retching or lack of appetite, you should get him checked by your local vets.

If you are concerned there may be something stuck, I would recommend that you have Cheeky evaluated by a vet immediately. Sometimes they can eat a piece of string or fabric that gets caught around the base of the tongue. Other times, these types of symptoms can be caused by coughing/respiratory disease or nausea. A thorough exam with a vet should be able to clue you in to what could be going on with Cheeky.
