My cat has a fever and can't walk after vet visit. What's wrong?

Difficulty walking could be a sign of neurologic disease, and infection would be a concern for a cat Fluff's age. Some parasites like toxoplasmosis can cause neurologic disease, as can viruses like the feline immunodeficiency virus. Difficulty walking could also be related to trauma but this might be more obvious on an exam. If the labs are not conclusive, a referral to a neurology specialist might be recommended as sometimes advanced diagnostics like an MRI and/or spinal tap are necessary for a diagnosis. If she continues to eat and drink normally and does not seem painful I'd wait for test results to come back and discuss the next step with your veterinarian.

I agree that a high temp like that could be a bacterial infection but it can also be a protozoal infection, pain from a clot or back injury, or even cancer. It is unlikely to be kidney disease in my opinion but bloodwork is needed to be certain. I’d take her to an emergency clinic right away for a second opinion. Next steps would be bloodwork including an FIV/FeLV screen and xrays to make sure she didn’t break a bone or have some other obvious problem. Best wishes to you and Nova.

I am so sorry that Kitti is so sick. I’m very worried about her from your description and I’m afraid she needs some pretty intensive care if she’s going to recover. If you are near a veterinary specialty center, consider going there through their emergency department. What diagnostics have been done at this point? If bloodwork hasn’t yet been done, ask about doing some lab work to get a better idea of what’s going on. Xrays or ultrasound may also be helpful. Kasia sounds very ill, and I would consider her symptoms a medical emergency. She needs veterinary care now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Some human medications for fever are highly toxic to cats. I am concerned that there is something very serious going on to cause bloody vomit. I don't have any treatment ideas since we don't know what is causing the issue in Kelev. She really needs to see a vet.

Fever in cats usually indicates there is an infection present. Cats also can get fever from a flea parasite called Mycoplasma, which is treated with an antibiotic. There isn't anything you can do for either of these scenarios at home unfortunately. A vet visit is required to treat for these and hopefully get Snow back to normal. There is nothing that can done at home in this case, I'm sorry. Leo is obviously in a lot of pain, and there are no OTC pain medications for cats. Many human ones are toxic to cats, and are fatal if given. Plus he has a fever, and it's extremely serious he won't. The best thing for him is to find the closest vet to you, and get him there now.
