Kitten sick: fever, bloody vomit, strange walk after human medicine?

I am so sorry that Kitti is so sick. I’m very worried about her from your description and I’m afraid she needs some pretty intensive care if she’s going to recover. If you are near a veterinary specialty center, consider going there through their emergency department. What diagnostics have been done at this point? If bloodwork hasn’t yet been done, ask about doing some lab work to get a better idea of what’s going on. Xrays or ultrasound may also be helpful. That is not normal behavior from a young kitten. Yes it sounds like she has a fever and stomach upset. Since she’s so small and sick she should have veterinary treatment soon so she doesn’t get worse. Healthy kittens are very playful and don’t vomit or sleep that much. Please take her in for treatment. They will give medication to resolve the vomiting and reduce her fever if she has one. Hi there. Sorry about what's happened to your poor kitties, especially Axel. It sounds like something to do with the food, I agree with you. Every now and then a bag will spoil or have a tiny hole in it or something while it's stored and mice and things can get in there and make a mess. This can lead to bacterial overgrowth or fermenting of the food which can make your animals sick. If you ever heard of certain products being recalled (especially for babies) pet food is no exception. Make sure there isn't a recall on what you're currently feeding. Give a call to your pet food company as well. Sometimes they have insight beyond this and often will replace the bag of food for you. If Axel is still actively vomiting it would probably be best to have him seen by your veterinarian-if he has ingested spoiled food he can become quite ill, as some animals are more sensitive than others. Your doctor can give him something for nausea and keep him hydrated with subcutaneous or iv fluids. I hope this helps you! I hope he feels better soon!

TIko sounds like she isn't getting along too well unfortunately! By the looks of the pictures, she appears that she might have an upper respiratory infection at the very least, which is an extremely common finding in young kittens. Usually they require some antibiotics, immunoboosters, and medication for the eyes to prevent infection and ulceration. If she is so weak that she is unable to carry her own weight or walk straight, I would say this is a good indication that she may be pretty severely dehydrated and drained of electrolytes. A fever as you already spoke of can cause this type of lethargic behavior as well. Check her temperature rectally to see if it is above 102.5-103.0F. In terms of the ear, I can't really see what is going on there. I can just see that it looks like it is bent down to appear inside out.

If there is any way you can have him examined by a veterinarian, then things can be sorted out quickly, a diagnosis made, or at least proper medications ( if needed ) can be started. This is a sign that the disease is more serious than previously thought, you must take Odie back to your vet today, he will need to have a blood test done and the medications will need to be changed, if this is an infection he will need to take antibiotics for at least a week.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Mint! Sadly cats are very sensitive to medications and there are no safe "fever reducers" to give cats. Human drugs can cause severe side effects in cats and even death. If you can not afford the testing then ask your Vet for supportive care, things like fluids under the skin and antibiotics for a longer course. In the IS pneumonia is rate in cats. Cats more commonly are chronically infected with viral infections or if they have chronic fevers were worry about Feline Leukemia, FIV and Feline Infectious Peritonitis.
