My cat needs iron. Is Feroglobin liquid safe? What are alternatives?

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | spayed | 3 years old | 10 lbs

Is it okay to give my cat feroglobin liquid? She is spayed and my vet told me to give her iron supplement. So is feroglobin okay or should I buy something else?

This product is safe, but contains a great deal of other vitamins and minerals that can be excessive. Iron can also be toxic if too much is given, so it's best to ask your vet what the specific dose should be and ask for them to recommend a product.

Please repost your question with additional information on Lisa--- please let us know what Lisa's health problem is and why you were told to give her an iron supplement. If she needs it due to anemia, it may be ok, however if she is not iron deficient, then giving it could be very bad for her. We want to be sure we are giving you sound advice, and above all we DO NOT want to advise you to do something that may harm your pet. Therefore, without knowing more about Lisa we can't tell you whether or not its ok to give it-- ideally including lab work information, etc.
Free of charge, you can post another question on the forum with more complete information on whats going on. If you do this, please repost the pictures as well, as the forum doesn't allow us to selectively search back through questions so your new post needs to be able to stand alone with information. Thans for reaching out about Hela. Ferratone is a product that works as a laxative, usually for the treatment and possible prevention of hairballs. Ferrovite is a vitamin supplement. If using a good quality ferret food, additional vitamins are probably not needed as the food is well supplemented. The emu oil is basically a fat/energy/calorie source as is probably not necessary. My cat has diabetes. Is Pet Tinic safe with its sugar content?

Hello, that is an iron, copper, and B vitamins supplement with corn syrup and sugar which may increase Junior's blood sugar by administering it. I would not recommend using it in a diabetic cat unless your veterinarian approved of it after evaluating his diabetic control. Alternatively, if choosing to give it, you may be able to administer this medication during feeding times when Junior will be receiving insulin to control his blood sugar. Hope this helps.

Is human folic acid with fillers safe for my cat with low folate?

While I don't have concerns about those specific ingredients, supplementing folate is not typically necessary for an adult cat. Low folate is a sign that the bacterial flora in the intestinal tract is out of balance, often because of a disease like inflammatory bowel disease and the test is often run to look for this problem. Treatment usually focuses on treating the underlying disease which will correct the folate. I would recommend talking to your veterinarian before choosing to supplement orally.

Pet Tinic should be safe for your cat. However, as you do not specify what liver problem your cat was diagnosed with, I suggest you ask your veterinarian who diagnosed Junior's problem, whether he recommends giving Junior this vitamin and trace element preparation, Normally, it is not necessary to supplement vitamins and trace elements provided the cat is fed a good quality diet, or specific diet for the condition from which the cat suffers.
