My cat has liver disease. Is Pet Tinic safe for her to take?

Hello, that is an iron, copper, and B vitamins supplement with corn syrup and sugar which may increase Junior's blood sugar by administering it. I would not recommend using it in a diabetic cat unless your veterinarian approved of it after evaluating his diabetic control. Alternatively, if choosing to give it, you may be able to administer this medication during feeding times when Junior will be receiving insulin to control his blood sugar. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "baby food diet". There are some nutrients that cats need that humans, dogs, and most other animals don't need (it's called Taurine if you want to do more research) so it's important from them to be on a food formulated for cats. That said, it would be safe for a cat with liver disease to have sweet potatoes as treats if they are interested. I would recommend talking to your vet about good prescription liver diets, such as Hills I/d. Best of luck to your kitty!

I would recommend feeding a specialist diet formulated for cats with liver disease such as royal canin hepatic or hills l/d. These are high calorie, easily digestible with limited liver function and supplemented with antioxidants and liver protectants. These can be diluted and syringe fed if necessary

Hello. This is a product that is not used in the United States, but since it is primarily amino acids & vitamins, it should be rather safe. Was Loki on fluids? This would be extremely important to correct his dehydration. The most common cause of heatstroke in cats is when they get trapped somewhere, like a car or storage building. The increased temperatures can cause significant organ damage, & if he was trapped for several days, cats are unique in developing liver problems from even a few days of starvation. It is good that he is eating as this is the most positive sign of his recovery. Follow your veterinarians recommendations & hopefully Loki will be feeling better soon. You can try finding this in milk thistle, silymarin, or Vitamin E. Though none of them will actually heal the liver. They, and Denamarin, are antioxidants that can help protect the liver from further damage, but they cannot reverse damage that has already occurred.

I’m sorry to hear fluffy is dealing with this. A small amount of chicken or chicken baby food is likely ok to offer her, as of course it is important to get her eating. Without knowing the details of her lab work it is hard to give specific nutritional information. So I would suggest getting in touch with her vet when you can. If her liver is failing we do need to be more careful about the amount of protein they are consuming.

Ultimately, it depends on the underlying cause. If your pet is experiencing hepatic lipidosis (typically caused when not eating) then, yes they can. In order to determine the underlying cause, an abdominal x-ray and or ultrasound would be the best diagnostics. Whitey probably needs a feeding tube, antibiotics, appetite stimulant, and vitamin B12 supplementation. Discuss these diagnostics and treatments with your veterinarian.
