Pet's eyes still look bad after a week of tobramycin drops. What now?

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. Since Toby has not improved on his medications, I highly recommend that you have Toby reevaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They can attempt a different course of therapy or possibly refer you to an eye specialist. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!

Although a picture would be essential to determine clinical development, if you think there is no improvement at all, I would recommend to have it checked again immediately. Certain type of corneal ulcers can actually start melting and get worse very rapidly. Different type of antibiotics or treatment may be needed. Poor Yoda. That I does look cloudy from the pictures but I can only see so much. I am assuming that TobraDex is actually Tobramycin ophthalmic antibiotic. And since you did not mention any other medications, I will also assume that this is the only medication you are using. I believe that Yoda should be taken back to the veterinarian as soon as you can. The reason being is that two days with and wait meant applied as often as you are applying should be causing this all right to almost be back to normal by now. My concern is that there may be something else that needs to be added to your treatment regimen. for instance, maybe you have a possible infection in the eye that is resistant to the Tobramycin. or maybe there is a lot of inflammation and an anti-inflammatory medication needs to be added. But I would not wait any longer to go back into the veterinarian and have them do an ophthalmic examination again. You may want to check for another corneal stain, tear test, fundic exam, etc. I hope that you guys are able to get Yoda’s Eye on the road to recovery.

Without knowing what the medication that was used and not knowing what the diagnosis was from your previous vet, it is difficult to guide you in the right direction. However, if the eyes were treated with an antibiotic and cleared up but are still accumulating thick material, I would recheck with the veterinarian and have the eyes checked for dry eye to see if this is the primary problem. Life long medication is needed if the eyes are diagnosed with dry eye. I hope this helps! Optixcare is an eye ointment that is over the counter that can help with dry eye so if you are unable to get to your vet, you can start with this ointment to see if it makes a difference. You can continue with the Tobrex but if no improvement after 5-7 days he should see a vet. I suspect he may have entropion but I cannot tell for by looking at photos. However, there are some other diseases that really need a very thorough evaluation of the eye to diagnose. I think that if he has not improved on the current therapy, it may be a good idea to check in with your veterinarian. If they are concerned based on their knowledge of his case, they could consider having you consult with a veterinary ophthalmologist. If the Tetracycline isn't working, yes she needs a different medication but I can't say what without seeing her in person.
