Can humans get ear mites from my cat, and what are the symptoms?

Ear mites can be transferred from cat to cat/dog etc but only rarely affect people. I would keep her out of your bed until you know she has been fully treated (including for worms etc as there is also potential for these to spread to people)

The most likely way for these to transfer is ear to ear, or ear to face contact between the two cats. It is highly unlikely for you to be the medium on which they transport should these cats never interact. A dose of Revolution, however, would fix and prevent this problem in both cats.

While ringworm is potentially contagious to people, the reality is that by the time your cat is diagnosed with ringworm, you have already been exposed to it for a long period of time and have not had any problems with it. Most people do not contact ringworm from cats (or other animals), but from other people. Hello, sorry to hear about Honey. I would be more concerned with the yellow scabs being indicative of an ear infection, bacterial or yeast. However, unless ruled out with diagnostics, we cannot say that Honey is not carrying anything infectious that could be transmitted to humans. If your mouth was in direct contact with Honey, or if you happened to pet honey and then touched around your mouth, and if she happened to be carrying something infectious, then there's a chance you may have gotten something from her. The best way to rule out that she has anything you should worry about is by having your veterinarian assess her and run some skin diagnostics which may include a fungal culture, a skin scrape, and looking at skin debris and cells under the microscope. Things that you can contract from your cat include ring worm infections and paraste infections. Schedule an appointment to have your veterinarian take a look at your cat and speak to your physician about the rash your developed. Hope this helps and best of luck!

These lesions look suspicious of scabies mites, ringworm and/or this could be a result of a current ear infection (ear mites) and fleas. Neither of these conditions can be properly diagnosed and treated without the help of your veterinarian unfortunately. I would try to take at least 1 cat in to the vet to have a skin scrape and ear exam + ear cytology (if debris is seen inside the ear canal) to try and confirm the diagnosis so that we know how to best help your pets. I am highly suspicious that this is a contagious skin disease however because multiple pets have skin problems at the same time. Poor cats. It sounds like Pojii could have ear mites. You usually can't see ear mites without a microscope but they could be moving ear wax around. Other types of mites, lice and fleas could also be near the ears. Ear mites usually cause a very dark, dry waxy debris in the ears and can cause secondary ear infections. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian for a diagnosis - they might take a swab from the ears and examine it under the microscope - and treatment options. Ear mites and ear infections are not particularly serious and are easily treatable, but if they are untreated they could lead to permanent damage to the ear.

You should consider vacuuming and cleaning your house thoroughly once the cat leaves and then consider a preventative for Princess called Revolution which prevents ear mites but also fleas and heartworms.
