My new mom cat won't eat/drink, dry swollen tongue. What can I do?

If she is unable to even swallow water she will need to have a feeding tube inserted to provide nutrition and may also require intravenous fluids to prevent dehydration. This must be extremely distressing for her and it may be time to consider letting her go if the condition cannot be managed as fasting in cats can create further serious health complications on top of the tumor

Keep feeding her wet food over the weekend, and have her seen by a vet on Monday. If she stops eating or appears to be in significant pain, then take her into an emergency vet. Best of luck.

I would take her and her baby into a vet immediately. It's extremely serious that she hasn't eaten or drank in three days, especially since she has a baby, and this is a medical emergency. Please take them into a vet now.

From the photo her tongue looks like it may be swollen with a blister on the tip. Excessive drooling for several days can be from a burn on the tongue, something caustic that irritated her mouth, or something stuck in her teeth. Please give her wet food with added water, and continue to give water by syringe if she’s not drinking. I recommend a veterinary exam to find the reason for her symptoms, and get treatment. Poor Girl! Motherhood can be rough. Since it has been 3 days, I strongly recommend having your vet take a look at her. Since she is nursing, the kittens are depleting her of hydration and nutrients so waiting too long can make things worse. Having babies can mess up their blood values and cause issues. Your vet will likely run bloodwork. They will put her some meds that are safe for the nursing kittens if needed to help her feel better.

Poor girl. If she is not eating food, then this is an indicator that she may have an infection. At this age, most of the kittens should be almost weaned off of her, so it is ok if she is not producing a lot of milk. You can start giving them kitten formula mixed with soft canned food at this point and help them wean completely off of mom. It's hard to say without an oral exam why Cookie can't seem to eat or swallow. I would try different flavors or wet food as some cats don't like tuna and do better with chicken or beef. If if he typically eats dry possibly soaking his food in warm water to see if that is easier to get him to eat. But if he continues to not eat well he really needs an exam to find out why.
