My new rescue cat has dry, crusty eyes. When should I see a vet?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

Just got a cat from a rescue shelter and his corner of his eyes look dryer up I just wanna know if he just got something on him or if I should take him to a vet.

The eye does look a little irritated and like there is some hair loss. With any new pet, it's always best to schedule an initial wellness check with your vet anyway, so it would be a good idea to schedule one and also bring up the eye during your visit.
