Why does my cat drool, hiss, and act scared then return to normal?

If Milo was drooling that may be a sign of nausea which can be seen with gastrointestinal conditions like gastroenteritis, pancreatitis or conditions such as kidney disease, among others. If it has only happened once, it is fair to monitor him for now as long as he is otherwise doing well with a good appetite and activity level. If this is a persistent issue, or he does not feel well, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck!

Drooling can be a sign of dental disease, oral ulcers from ingesting toxins or from some medical conditions, or even nausea or pain. If you feel Leo's behavior is abnormal you should either recheck with your vet or get a second opinion elsewhere. A sedated oral exam might be helpful, or blood work might be recommended as well.

Oh my! Tessa is really cute! This can be normal behavior for some cats. Some never want to be touched and only want to do their own thing. I would recommend to continue to play with her and also slowly start to try petting her while feeding her a treat if she is food motivated. If you think she is fearful or anxious around you, you could try some feliway diffusers in your house and also the feliway spray on your clothes. This is a cat pheromones that can have a calming effect on some cats. You could also try catnip to see if she becomes more affectionat with it around. She is quite the cute cat and I can totally understand how hard it must be to not want to hold and love on her. Unfortunately, some cats are just stand offish. I hope this helps!

Broken tooth, mouth ulcers, electrocution (does she chew cords?) toxin, GI upset, foreign body, and more can all cause this - and all need some degree of medical attention. This could be something serious like a seizure or a problem with his heart. Next time it happens, try to video the episode on your phone, and then take him into the vet. You can show the vet the video, and the vet can diagnose what is causing this so he can be treated. I hope this helps!

I would be concerned about Zapatitos being nauseas, having infection or trauma inside the mouth or even a toxin if possible exposure. I would recommend taking her to a vet to have a good detailed exam to help narrow down why Zapatitos is hyper salivating. It is important to look under her tongue and make sure string is not attached causing a foreign body. Also you can look in her mouth to make sure you do not see any type of sores. Sometimes cats will chew electrical wires and get burns in the mouth or even have viruses that cause ulcers. All of these things can cause hyper salivation. I think a vet visit is best to help Zapatitos feel better as soon as possible.

Typically excess salivation is either caused by nausea or pain (oral or abdominal), although this is not an all inclusive list. There can still be oral disease present, especially if these missing teeth were not removed but fell out. Cats can get resorptive lesions of their teeth which can be really painful and the changes can be hard for owners to detect. They can also get lesions in their mouth (stomatitis, a mass, ulcers, etc.) that an owner may not see. Additionally diseases of other body systems may cause drooling (kidneys, gi, etc ). I would recommend your kitty seeing a vet for a thourough oral exam and blood work to start. A good oral exam will likely require sedation and perhaps dental xrays.
