I accidentally gave my cat double the dewormer dose. Is she okay?

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Generally speaking the active ingredients in most of these dewormers for dogs have a very wide margin of safety so giving another dose by accident is not likely to cause any significant issues.

There is a slight risk that the dewormer was contaminated. Monitor for signs of vomiting, diarrhea and lack of appetite. If she displays any of these then a trip to the veterinarian for treatment is recommended. Typically though the main issue is the medicine just isn't effective anymore and you can follow-up with a non-expired dewormer after waiting 24 hrs to make sure she has none of the signs mentioned above. However, she should be ok with conservative treatment through your vet even if she does have an upset stomach.

This should be fine as most commonly used antibiotics have wide dose ranges and good safety margins. It does depend on the specific antibiotic though and dosage, to be safe you can either ring your vet for advice or repost with more details here.

According to the veterinary medicine resource this drug has been tolerated at doses up to 90 mg/kg with mild symptoms (anorexia and excessive drinking) in some cats. Callie would have to have eaten 450 mg of Famciclovir to see these symptoms, so she is well below this amount if she ingested 2-125mg tablets totaling 250mg. She should be fine, however you can also consult with pet poison helpline to talk it over with a certified toxicologist as well. But based on my minimal research she is below the toxic level for ingestion. I hope your sweet girl continues to do well. Take care.

Hello. According to the manufacturer, cats as young as 5.5 weeks tolerated doses of 5x labeled dose every 14 days. For your kitten, you are just about there. But it really takes a massive overdose to start to get concerned. But do watch for signs of overdose including salivation, vomiting & depression. If you see any of these signs in the next hour or so, & they do not clear up within a few hours, or the kitten really seems significantly affected, do seek veterinary attention. Hello there, this is an unfortunate situation. The vaccines are very safe so Betty shouldn't be in anybgrave danger, if she gets them separated because she is sensitive to the vaccine you may find she has some symptoms. She may be a life dopey and dull and possibly sick. However she shouldn't have any long term issues. I would make her nice and comfy and let her get a good rest. If you notice her becoming sick visit your vet in case she does have a reaction.
