My cat has diarrhea, is lethargic, won't eat, and peed on bed.

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Male | neutered | 2 years and 11 months old | 28 lbs

Our young, healthy neutered male Siamese got closed in a bedroom last night for about 6 hours. During that time he had mucousy diarrhea and urinated on the bed - very unusual for him. Since I let him out he’s been very lethargic and eaten very little. His respiratory rate is 30 bpm, no fever, gums are pink. He doesn’t complain when I palpitate his belly. What could be going on here? Thanks for your help?

Poor James! If he was locked in the bedroom, he could have swallowed something in there causing a foreign body. It is concerning that he had diarrhea, and is now very lethargic and eaten very little. That tells me he's feeling quite badly, and it's actually pretty serious when a cat won't eat. Given he had such a sudden change from normal in such a short period of time, I'd take him into a vet today to be checked out. I hope this helps!
