My cat is lethargic, vomiting, and has diarrhea. Should I see a vet?

Acute vomiting and diarrhea, especially with poor appetite and lethargy, are certainly cause for concern. This could be caused by an infection, something stuck in Max's intestines, or a metabolic problem. At the veterinarian, they will examine him and probably take x-rays and run some lab work to look for the underlying cause of Max's issues. I wouldn't wait very long to go to the vet since Max is so young and small and so can become dehydrated quickly. See if you can get in for an exam today.

I would recommend that you have Alfie examined by a veterinarian. His symptoms could be caused by food intolerance, food allergies, intestinal parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal lymphoma, hyperthyroidism, systemic disease (liver, kidney, pancreas, diabetes), among others. After a thorough physical exam and review of his history, the vet may recommend bloodwork, intestinal parasite screening, or ultrasound to determine what could be the cause. They may also recommend that you do food trial for possible food allergies.

It's really difficult to know for sure without being able to examine her. Given that she hasn't eaten for two days and is lethargic and vomiting, I have to recommend that she be seen by a vet as soon as possible. This could indicate a severe disease, or toxin ingestion. Oh no, poor Toffee! She sounds quite sick at the moment, and her vomiting and diarrhea could be caused by a GI illness, eating something rotten or toxic, a foreign body, or pancreatitis. I see that she isn't spayed, and her symptoms could also be caused a pyometra, which is a life threatening infection of the uterus. When a cat is having both diarrhea and vomiting, it's time to see a vet immediately to prevent her from getting severely dehydrated and sicker. She does need veterinary attention now, please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Poor Dexter! That is concerning that he won't eat and has been sleeping all day. If the vomiting and diarrhea has stopped then you could try to get him to eat a small amount of a bland diet. Try a little bit of boiled chicken and see if he will eat that. You could also syringe a little bit of water into his mouth to see if he will drink. If the lethargy, decreased appetite, vomiting, and/or diarrhea continues then he needs to be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. 04/06 is a little far, i would say that it would be a good idea to take her to the vet in the next 24 hours, she is very young, diarrhea combined with vomiting at this age can be life threatening pretty fast.

Poor kitty. Most definitely Lzzy should be seen by a vet. 4-5 days of both vomiting and diarrhea without medications started to help with this is bound to cause him to become severely dehydrated and malnourished. He also needs a fecal exam and potentially bloodwork to determine what the underlying cause of his iillness is, so that he can receive proper treatment. At the very least the vet can prescribe medication to stop the vomiting and antibiotics +/- probiotics for the diarrhea, after making sure no parasites are in the stool that would also require a dewormer.
