Why is my cat lethargic, not eating, and growling when touched?

I am sorry to hear Pistol Pete isn't feeling well. It sounds like he is painful somewhere. I recommend taking him to the vet ASAP to determine why he isn't eating or drinking. Cats can only go about 3 days without eating before they get much worse. They may need to run some blood work and xrays to determine why he isn't feeling well. Good luck and kisses to Pete!

Poor James! If he was locked in the bedroom, he could have swallowed something in there causing a foreign body. It is concerning that he had diarrhea, and is now very lethargic and eaten very little. That tells me he's feeling quite badly, and it's actually pretty serious when a cat won't eat. Given he had such a sudden change from normal in such a short period of time, I'd take him into a vet today to be checked out. I hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear that Lily has been feeling so poorly today. As Dr. Melanie mentioned, lethargy and a loss of appetite can be due to many underlying health conditions. Since she seems to prefer laying down, it's also possible that she's experiencing some degree of pain or discomfort. Some of these possible conditions include pancreatitis, infectious diseases (FIV, feline leukemia, FIP, etc.), constipation, kidney disease, liver disease, toxin exposure (did she eat a plant, medication or something else she shouldn't have?), or many other conditions. The fact that she hasn't been using the litter box normally might be a sign that she is dehydrated, even though she's drinking water when it's placed in front of her. At this point, it would be best to take Lily to her vet fairly urgently for evaluation. Your vet will need to examine her and will likely recommend some diagnostic testing, which may include blood work, an ultrasound or x-rays, to get to the bottom of this issue. I hope that she feels better soon!

It sounds like Bent may not be feeling well if he is hunching up when you touch his belly, isn't walking and is very lethargic. It definitely sounds like something is bothering Kavek. I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian to get evaluated. He may have an upset stomach or he may have hurt himself. It could be that Snoopy has some pain in his neck, and that's why he's make noise when you rub his neck. Being in pain would lead to him to act lethargic and not eat. I'm not sure how long he hasn't eaten, but it can get very serious when a cat doesn't eat for around 72 hours. This is because a cat will develop a fatty liver if they don't eat for this long, and a fatty liver is fatal without treatment. I would avoid touching his neck, and try to tempt him to eat with some boiled white meat chicken, gently warmed really smelly wet food like sardine and fish based, or soaking his dry food in gently warmed beef or chicken broth. Have him seen by a vet for a health check today if possible. Do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. The vet can let you know if he is pain or if something else like an illness is causing his lethargy and anorexia. The vet can also treat him. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Hi. Unfortunately, there are many possibilities let causes of vomiting and not eating. This can range from something they ate upsetting the tummy, toxins, parasites, or even a foreign object in the GI tract that he swollen that could be stuck. The last one we get very suspicious of in young kitties. I would highly recommend getting Bart in to the ER this evening.
