My 7-year-old cat suddenly has diarrhea, won't eat, and is hiding.

Loss of appetite and diarrhea can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Otto evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. I would recommend that you have Alfie examined by a veterinarian. His symptoms could be caused by food intolerance, food allergies, intestinal parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal lymphoma, hyperthyroidism, systemic disease (liver, kidney, pancreas, diabetes), among others. After a thorough physical exam and review of his history, the vet may recommend bloodwork, intestinal parasite screening, or ultrasound to determine what could be the cause. They may also recommend that you do food trial for possible food allergies.

Poor James! If he was locked in the bedroom, he could have swallowed something in there causing a foreign body. It is concerning that he had diarrhea, and is now very lethargic and eaten very little. That tells me he's feeling quite badly, and it's actually pretty serious when a cat won't eat. Given he had such a sudden change from normal in such a short period of time, I'd take him into a vet today to be checked out. I hope this helps!

Even though Mango doesn't do well with travel, I would definitely take him into a vet immediately. He will not be feeling well and is likely distressed even though he's not showing signs of it. Cats can be very stoic when ill, and think about how you would feel if you had frequent diarrhea, was losing weight, and hardly eating. He could have something serious causing his symptoms such as irritable bowl disease or cancer. He needs veterinary care now because senior cats can easily get dehydrated and frequent diarrhea is enough to cause dehydration. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. It sounds as though Roger is sick with something affecting his GI tract. Diarrhea can lead to dehydration very quickly which can result in weakness and weight loss. The third eyelids are often more exposed with GI upset, pain or dehydration. I recommend having Roger evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. He may need subcutaneous or IV fluids as well as testing to determine the cause of his symptoms.

Diarrhea and a decrease in appetite could be a sign of a number of different problems. Intestinal parasites are possible, even for indoor cats, as are some infections or diseases like colitis or inflammatory bowel disease. If the diarrhea continues for more than 24 hours or seems to be getting worse, or if her appetite does not improve during that time I'd recommend seeing your veterinarian. They may treat her symptoms or recommend some testing like blood work or a fecal analysis depending on what they find during a physical examination.

Since it sounds like KD never skips a meal, its possible he is getting sick. Just like people, there are many conditions that can make pets feel sick. This could range from bacterial over growth to intestinal blockage. Also like us, diseases are best addressed early and this may result in a better prognosis. I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian if he is not eating for 24 hours, not drinking well or if he is getting worse.
