Why is my cat chewing plastic? Is it a problem if she doesn't eat it?

This a frustrating and potentially dangerous personality quark in some cats! However, It usually does not indicate any underlying medical issue. I recommend taking great pains to make all plastic inaccessible to Luna. Some cats are very persistent about seeking out their plastic fix. The problem with this plastic habit, is that if Luna eats some plastic that is too large, it can get stuck in her stomach or intestines and require surgery to remove. If Luna ever starts vomiting suddenly, be sure to let your vet know that she's a plastic eater.

This may be a normal behavior for Sky but I would recommend you find a safer chew toy for her. My biggest concern is that she would ingest a piece of the plastic which could cause GI distress and/or a blockage. I don't know the exact reason but one of my cats has been doing that for 10 years, i too in the beginning was a little concerned but it's mainly chewing, less ingesting, i think she does that because she just likes the chewing feeling of plastic.
